She's had her own side business for the last 25 years or so, she does everything out of the house. She's scaled back quite a bit, but she still takes on cakes for friends and family quite a bit. I'll try to find some pics of cakes she's done in the past.

    Congratulations Mr. Shorten!

Please, indulge us, if you will - on the details of how you and your betrothed first met.

Until then, I will make a moment of my spiritual mediation and reflection be directed towards your honor, and that of your upcoming union.

WRXBOY2003 - Thank you for your input, but I think you may have mistaken one of the (if not THE) greatest poets and musicians in US History with someone else. You see, Mr. Morrison was found dead in a bathtub (Paris, France). The official statement by Dr. Max Vasille was that "Jim Morrison died of heart failure". Later, Jim's long time lover Pam Courson stated that he died of a Heroin overdose and that it was "her fault" (given the offical statment of heart failure, and Pam's addmittance to heroin use, Jim's death is widely accepted as an accidental overdose).

I do not have any, nor have I ever heard any information about Jim hanging himself with a belt.

Perhaps the "exposure" you refer to is the time Jim was arrested in Miami, Florida for indecent exposure (he artistically exposed himself in a moment of being lost in the music), so your reference to "exposure" may be correct, but the details you have surrounding it are incorrect.

Regardless of what happened to Jim Morrison some 36 years ago, this thread is about Mr. Shorten, his upcoming nuptules, and our best wishes to he and his future wife. Perhaps we could refrain from any further discussion (in this thread) of Jim Morrison, or make a new "Off Topic" thread if you so wish.

    Once again, Congratulations Mr. Shorten.

I did not feel like you were being an ass to me, nor was I trying to burn you.

I just wanted to clear up any confusion surrounding Jim's untimly departure.

It's all good. Now, I will get back to burning what I do burn best. :coolugh:

Just like the Shorten. Now, Brian, seeing as you sold your wagon, what did you get in its place?

Alright, might as well spill the beans... ;)

Jess and I actually met through Eharmony. Rather funny, considering we both hate the ads and we were using the last 3 months of a promotional membership. She'd actually emailed me several months ago, then I'd written back and I didn't hear anything from her after that. The reason being is that she was managing two stores at once (she manages a Starbucks, if I drank coffee I'd be set) and was working 80+ hours a week. I was also busy around that time in my life, and wasn't paying much attention to my account. That, and it seemed like everytime I did meet up with some girl off Eharmony it seemed to be the dating equivalent of chewing glass. Not to mention the amount of time you have to put in just to be able to email someone is frustrating as all hell. If I ever meet Dr. Neil Clark Warren I'm going to shake his hand and kick him in the balls. Not sure if that will be the order either. But I digress...

So I got a message from her in late August and we went through the rest of the steps needed to be able to communicate with each other. I finally got to send my first email, and told her a little about me, and gave her my cell phone and my email. She promptly sent back her number and email and asked how I'd prefer to talk to her. Since every other girl on Eharmony likes to hide behind the keyboard, I told her I'd give her a call...

It all went downhill from there, so to speak. In 48 hours, we talked for over 20 hours on the phone. We met on the 3rd day, and other than when I've had to fly out of town for funerals or Thanksgiving, we haven't spent a day apart. I've never been around someone this long and not had the urge to strangle them, it's a new feeling. I knew from our first date that this was who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, the rest of the time has just been confirming that. Yes, it's been quick but we have both been on the same page since our first day together.

So, that's the story in a nutshell. We are currently looking at a fall wedding, we're just trying to get the exact weekend nailed down but the 11th is a pretty good bet. I'll keep people posted as it gets closer. :)

And no, we will not be appearing in any of those TV ads. ;)
