Hey all... I own a 2003 WRX and I have so far put a cold air intake, up-pipe, cat back (self made at my shop) changed all the lubes to synthetic, adjusted waste gate a little... and GFB valve....
19in Katana rims... what would be the next step to take??? I would like to eventually lower the car, but speed is upmost importance... WHich turbo is best?? Downpipe?? ECU?? injectors???

any suggestions... I am not in a hurry for financial reasons... I opened a Meineke, and had to buy the land build the building and furnish it too... so at this time am researching ideas to see what others think..

I would switch the order but that is the path that I have been taking.
ECU, TBE (Turbo Back Exaust), then injectors.

Somewhere between when my TBE gets here and injectors I want to do Sway bars, and other suspension things. I don't like to drive in a straight line.

If speed is the importance, sell the CAI and the BOV and buy a downpipe with the money you make. boxer4racing.com sells the Stromung pipe for like 189.99 and it is a nice, divorced WG pipe. Then, I'll give you my stock airbox and you can buy a nice panel filter from ITG, Perrin or Blitz. I'll even cut the resonator out (airbox hack) I also have a stock Recirc valve so you don't have to buy one of those. That should get you on track for big power.

Next, decide on what you want your car to do. If you are looking to drag race your car, www.fullthrottlespeed.com sells Garret GT series turbos with a bolt-on exhaust housing for subarus. A 10 or 11 will do you nicely. A 650cc or larger injector, Walbro 255lph fuelpump and a UTEC and you should be on your way. With the GT turbo you will probably need a larger TMIC. Or you could always go the IHI route and get a VF22 turbo and have Deadbolt do their 'spa treatment' to it and then swap in a PE style wheel which would up the cfm output.

Yup, pretty much what Readymix said. Ditch the CAI (they can make your car run dangerously lean), and pick up a good downpipe. Follow that up with an ECU reflash -- most people on here will say go with UTEC, especially if you plan to upgrade your turbo later on.

As far as turbos go, the VF22 is a good one if you want all out top end power and can handle a little lag. If you are looking for more of a midrange punch with minimal lag, look into either a VF34 or something like a td05h-16g from Deadbolt.

Oh yeah, if speed is your number 1 thing, ditch the 19s and get some lightweight 17s. Also, be careful when adjusting the wastegate actuator arm. Too many turns in will give you boost spike [xx(]

Thanks for the replies... as far as screwing the wastegate... since doing that the boost has actually stopped fluctuating... and runs steadily... around 15-17psi I think... little over 1bar on stock gauge.. have to confirm number... anyways... thougth about spinners but a waste on a small car... My 19's weigh as much as my standard 17's with wheels.. give or take a little... I plan to get a downpipe or make one in shop...

Yes I do own the Store.. it is a Meineke Car Care Center... anyone is welcome to drop bye anytime... I am not a mechanic hence I ask questions... I just wanted to work for myself... still scratching my head whether that wass a smart choice... ha ha

So being an owner of the business I dont have the $$$$ yet but am researching opinions and balancing out the most common advice...

I am from Australia and have been around mostly rotories till moving here...

If anyone heads out on the weekends anywhere send me an email at [email protected]

I am planning on trying to get up to the firestone one night soon.. warmer weather would help...

My dream would be to have a shop that deals with small cars and aftermarket stuff... but that may have to wait as this aint california or florida...

    anyways...
    keep the suggestions coming

The biggest question, is what do you want out of the car (1/4 mile monster, track car, quick street car, etc) than I can get into suggestions. If it was me, I would get a utec first, than you can atleast tune for what you have. As for the cai making the car lean, that is alot of myth and it also depends on what cai you have. I ran a injen and a friend ran a aem, and those are both fine (same dia as stock airbox and tested with wbo2). Determine what you want out of the car, and plan from there.
