and how would they see that sort of life... under communist rule??? under Hitler?? under any other dictator??? through torture and IED's??? the basis of how we went into the war may be your arguing point.. but who really frickin knows... the media lies about the lies that the government told by their employees whom lied to them because of teh lie that freddy told... If anyone comes on here and acts like they have the answer for the Iraq situation or any otehr way teh government can do it better I will lose ALL respect... cause half the people on this forum cant even afford the gas in their cars.. how the frig are YOU gonna tell teh country how to run.... or how to spend money?? ayda yda.. this argument crapis pointless till you prove to me you can validate your abilities to do it better on a miniscule scale...
You are funny Nate. But yeah, its all lies anyway. I am not saying i know how to run a country or how to end the war. I am just saying that it was started for a reason that is not even clear. I mean they did not find WMD's right? And Iran is not producing uranium. BTW, Russia is not Communist anymore(was democratic or somewhat democratic in the past 10+ years). I am no Socialist too.
i for see oil companys having record profits next year also, they are need to fund PALM JAMIRA. Look it up its the most rediculus resort on the planet.
Are you referring to Palm Jumeirah? Yes, it is. Note this: 100% man-made by an oil tycoon from UAE (United Arab Emirates) who doubles as Vice President, Sheikh, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. It is currently the smallest project of its type, with a multiple man-made islands in concept/production. This is absolutely disgusting. See below: Practically the grossest display of monetary extravagance ever documented in human history.
btw, a lot of the realestate was already bought by Russian reach polititions like Abramovich and such.
Nathan, thank you very much for making me laugh. Post #44 had me laughing my ass off. Well, as much as I can with this damned flu or cold or whatever the hell it is going around right now. Taras, you personally don't offend me. I find it funny that while you are getting your information from 2nd and 3rd party sources and quoting it as truth, I'm getting information from people who've actually been there and done that as far as Iraq and Katrina are concerned. Not to mention the fact that you seem to have a serious lack of understanding for the logistics involved in a large scale rescue/reconstruction effort. I myself was on a list of firefighters who volunteered to go to New Orleans, but we were actually turned away because of the turnout of emergency workers. I understand that your views are more liberal than conservative and that's fine. You're entitled to your viewpoint. However, you would be well advised to get a more rounded education rather than a party-centric one. Do yourself a favor and actually talk to people who've done something in whichever topic you're involved with rather than sat back and pontificated as if they knew what was going on. You'll get better information from someone who's done it rather than just read about it.
If you look at "The World" (yes, the literal name, for obvious reasons), Ethiopia (yes, the literal name of the island) was bought by non-other than Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Again making a worthless point about something no American gives a **** about, other than the fact that their adopted child was born there. ...I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous though, just look at that water!
Wow, where do I even begin? First off, take your blinders off people if you think this lawsuit is nothing more than a publicity stunt. I'm trying to figure out if you're all just pointing out the obvious (that this is a rediculous publicity stunt) or if you're trying to actually argue that the government had a tip top response to Katrina? Arguments can be made for and against the construction of the levies as being the culprit. Actually the levies were the culprit to the disaster; New Orleans made it through the hurricane pretty unscathed. It can be argued whether or not the government is responsible for their failure, I won't take sides either way on that. But there's lots of documentation that they weren't properly maintained due to budgetary reasons. Anyone who thinks otherwise is pretty ignorant if they think any U.S. infrastructure is well maintained [cough]35W Bridge[/cough]. But who care's about the levies... Let's just look at the response after the fact. The government screwed up, I don't think anyone here has any argument to dispute this. There's heaps and heaps and heaps of evidence showing how much the government response sucked. I won't go into it anymore than that unless somebody wants to make an argument that they did the best they could do. Now on to this... In one breath you say this: And then you follow with this: This makes no sense. If people were so smart 100 years ago, why was there ANYONE living in LA when Katrina hit? In the mean time everyone who lives here complains about the cold? The entire west coast is hit by earthquakes and is forcasted to have tidal waves. The entire east coast is just as susceptible to hurricanes as the golf coast, including NYC, and manhatten could be under as much as 6 ft of water if their pumping stations ever fail worse than the times it only shut down the subway. Now for the juciest nugget of all: What planet do you even live on? The LA economy sucked balls before Katrina even hit. Where exactly are all these people supposed to find work? Are they supposed to just get into their cars (oops) and drive up to mpls where there's actually jobs? This is by far probably one of the most ignorant statements made in this thread. Sorry, no offence, it just is. Why people are even talking about Iraq, oil, and the U.A.E. is beyond me. The government screwed up, and some people decided to use the system in the only way they have the power to... to litigate. They made it a publicity stunt to, you guessed it, get publicity. Now that they got their little spot of fame with an msn link and we're all discussing it, I'd say "Mission Accomplished." The government was negligent in their response, and if any of you want to throw down (in a link/source battle, I'm not going to fight you over this!) and say they did everything super duper, we can do that.
Thanks Brian! I would actually like to talk to some troopers who went to Iraq it would be very ineresting to hear what they say. I am sure a lot of them will have diferent oppinions. This is a great post. Well put together.
Congrats on the best post in this thread. Michael Brown was single handily the most obvious result of cronyism in the Bush administration, period. Looking back on that, FEMA's response to Katrina is in no way surprising.
