so dear fellow members I need your guys help on identifying the culprit and which brings I to 3 causes and it'll either be 1. Piston/valve slap, 2. Timing belt tensionor pulley or 3. Rod knock and I have a 14 wrx stage 2 open source tune by nf performance

Sounds like a good question for NF Performance? Is there supposed to be a video too with the noise, or are we just suppose to throw guesses at you?

My guess, if that's what you're looking for, is yes.

    That sounds terrible! Sorry. :(

I don't think that it's a good idea to start it again.

JMA in Osseo does amazing work and could take care of you. Paging @jmyhre05

Yeah that sounds real bad. Rod knock?
Did it just start all of a sudden?

On second thought that sounds too slow to be rod knock. Maybe timing tensioner?
Does it change speed with the engine rpms?

Can't see the video, but seeing it's a 2014 it's likely spun rod bearing. These don't get piston slap like the older models and with it being so new timing belt tensioner is unlikely. We have rebuilt multiple 2014s with rod bearings even 2015s. Usually caused by lack of lubrication (not changing oil with synthetic and not often enough). Well it doesn't quite seem to be a rod knock cause when I rev it up to a higher rpm I don't hear a knock and the noise still stays the same @jmyhre05 I have contacted u guys a little through email and with nf there busy atm so I'm taking it to the dealer tom. And see what's the problem

Not sure what part of the metro you live in but if your going to bring to the dealer I would strongly recommend Minnetonka or a little less Brooklyn park. The other dealers we commonly see misdiagnosed cars come in. If your in the south Metro stop into RS and just have one of those guys listen to it really quick or else stop by our shop and we'll listen to it really quickly no problem.

That's a pretty decent distance to tow it! I'd get a uhaul trailer and truck and take it to Jesse at JMA. You won't regret it!
