Found this brown plug under the driver dash when installing my gauges. Any takers on guessing where it goes and what it does? It's a 2011 Sti.

Is that for the ECU, allows you to reflash it?

Bingo, I'm almost sure that is the plug for the footwell lighting. I saw a similar wire hanging down in my 08 and noticed it was actually the footwell light that came out of its mount (due to the shining red bulb lol). I can double check the color of mine.

I'm having trouble locating where it should be plugged in. Can you guys take a pic or describe where that plug goes?

This pic right here from the NASIOC post (I know its the center console, but it looks like the same plug):

"I also removed the center console cover to reveal the stock light. Please see my kartboy install for directions on how to remove the console.
Once the console is removed, push the stock light with your thumb from inside the dash below where the duct was."

I work in a factory. We make 500k plus 4 wheel drive tractors but it might be the same.
To save cost they kinda make the wiring harnesses some what universal. So every possible option and future addon that you could put on the vehicle already have all the wiring run thru the body and is easy to hook up. So like on these friggin half million dollar tractors if later on the guy wants ground speed radar to tell how fast hes going within a tenth of a mile he can buy it and add it easy long as he has the cash. My 09 WRX had all the wiring for a under seat subwoofer. I added it last fall when they were replacing the seat cover and had to take out the heated seats anyway. I put in engines all the time that have unused plugs and say did someone forget something? But usually ends up being nothing.

Im not saying I know what the plug is for. But I wouldn't worry too much unless your having problems.
