+1^^ I did mine the exact same way howvee I was going for a flat bronze look so I went light on the flat clear
I always use 2 cans of color and 2 cans of clear, and 2 cans of primer. A half can of paint should be enough for proper coverage on a wheel.
i just did mine about 2weeks ago. 2 cans primer, 2 color, and 3 clear ( wanted it to be really glossy)
if you actually get up and do it, you will be impressed with the results i promise. i prolonged mine a few weeks but im glad i did it.
+1 on this^^^^ i'm very happy with the results on mine.... i ended up using 2 cans of primmer, 3 gold, and 3 clear.... the gold was a pain in the ass to get good coverage without runs, and i wanted to make sure the clear was on good since i was unsure on how well it holds up to the elements and brake dust
I recommend 2-3 light coats of Duplicolor wheel Clear. It is made to stand up to the elements. Also, when applying paints, your first coat should look like very even and uniform overspray, and wait the alloted 10 minutes for cure time. This will give you a nice rough textured paint surface for your next coat to adhere to. When I lay down paint from rattle cans, I usually do 3 light coats. The third coat is usually the one that finally looks like you got it all.
now that the summer rims are on the car, I am going to paint my winters over the summer, hopefully sooner then later so they can set up real good before I flog them through the winter.
