Hey guys, I pretty much have my car sold to a kid my age that doesn't know very much about subaru's. My car is slightly out of tune and I suggested he get it re-tuned to prevent any problems. I originaly had it tuned at Godspeed in Michigan and some of you may know of my horror story there. Where is the best place, localy, to get the car tuned.

    UTEC
    18G Turbo
    APS Top mount
    3" TBE
    Up pipe
    800cc injectors
    fuel pump
    short ram intake
    v6 sti tranny

Pretty sure that's all you would need to know for performance mods. When I got the car tuned, it was on a manual boost controller and at 19.5 psi. I suggested to him to switch to have the UTEC control boost, and yes I have the parts needed for that. He is like me and doesnt want to beat on the car, but would still like to show up some of those older guys in there stock vettes at the track. I'm thinking he will want 1 or 2 maps, low boost conservative and maybe a track setup, I will tell him 17-18 psi is the safest bet for street.

Oh, and from him taking the test drive, it wouldn't be wise to have him driving while building a map, hasn't been using the clutch for very long and is used to his honda.... So I would like to know of any SHOPS, I know of 3, LSE, DBtuning, and RSmotors. All should be around $400 for 2 hours max tuning. Who has the most experience with UTEC and could work with those mods. I also heard of someone getting a tuner flown in sometime this summer. Would be nice if there is no other option to know some more info on that.

I'm pretty sure Russ could do it, but he would pretty much need to do all the work, because this guy literaly doesn't know much of anything about these cars and is a newer driver with the clutch. I'm sure if he got someone to drive the car for him and have Russ tune it that would work. That's all up to him though, oh and the kid has money so would pay accordingly.

Haha I just made a suggestion to my own thread.....

DBperformancetuning is a local shop that has been tuning imports for years. They're mostly known for Mustangs and DSM's. Give them a call. Think tuning is like $150 an hour, not bad considering dyno time is $120/ hour, making tuning basically $30.

I've talked to them a couple times now, and from my experience, they have no clue what they are doing with subaru's. I asked him if he could install the UTEC boost controller and he asked me what UTEC was.... After reminding him, he said oh yeah we tune that here.... Granted that was 3 months ago, I doubt they have tuned enough 18G's, if any at all, on a subaru.

Russ could do it... If the guy didnt feel comfortable I could drive the car. We've done that before.

He will show the guy everything he needs to know and for $50/hour you get a map that just plain works everyday. Probably not as powerful as a dyno tuned one could be.. but it won't knock at least.

Those aren't PE injectors are they....:hsugh:
