I need to buy pads for my front. 04 wrx sedan. Any auto parts store break pads do? Or should I buy a certain brand? I have someone who knows how to install break pads so I just need some info on which are the best for the buck!

    Thanks for the help!

For street driving, the Carbotech Bobcats are great.

EBC are not particularly popular with performance oriented people, they're considered to be a low-dust pad, not a performance one. Even EBC doesn't recommend the Greenstuff pads for performance cars ("
[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]For heavier faster cars and vehicles above 200bhp we strongly recommend Redstuff").

Hawk and Porterfield make some good racing pads, I honestly don't know about street.

Thank you for the responses, so can you buy the Carbotech Bobcats or EBC's at any local auto parts store?

I like the Hawk HPS pads that came in my brake kit. Fine when cold, but feel nice warmed up.

I have the axxis pads and I like them... except they dust BAD :(

If you are going to replace the pads.. I would spend the extra money and go with the stoptech stage 1 kit. That will get you pads, stainless lines, and motul fluid. Best bang for the buck braking package imo.

Well, you can get the hawk pads at deversified cryo (www.frozenrotors.com), and they are just down in burnsville. Talk to Mark Link and tell him you are part of mnsubaru.

^ +2 I bought Hawk HPS pads from them and they had very good prices. The pads squeek a little bit but stop very nicely.

If you get in on the group buy Russ has organized the past few years, you can probably beat that by a couple bucks... plus it's a local shop/great people.

LVT - haven't been to the shop yet, but it sounds like they had some of the stuff I just ordered on hand already.

Back on topic: I'm going with Hawk HPS and Hawk Blues for 'cleaning the rotors' ;) I've also heard very good things about the Carbotechs - it really depends on the application/temperature range.

I'm rocking the Bobcats right now, and i think their a pretty damn good pad... for most purposes.
i think i'm going to step up the brakes a little bit soon here... my wheel/tire combo is overpowering them and i can feel it.

Hopefully, the plan sits as 4-pot calipers and Carbotech Panther XP+ pads.
