Hey guys, I just noticed we got a wicked traded 02 WRB rex up at our Subaru store in Burnsville. Its got all the stage2 mods with a STI turbo and top mount. I'm tryin to figure out who traded it in. It has a Prodrive exhaust, a CF hood scoop, HID's, Tokico Dspec's and a few others. Apparently the customer took home a new blue STI and brought it back and decided to buy a B-Spec Legacy. Anyways, I'm just tryin to gather information for one of the Tech's at Nissan who's interested. So, who's car is this? from what I've heard hes a Russian native. -Thanks, James
Was the spec B like a dark greyish color? I saw one rolling around with walser plates, and it was a guy driving. Just recently...
I never read the rest of that other thread about all of his nonsense. so he is in fact rolling a spec B now?
again there you guys go giving him way too much attention. no way am I going to lock this thread just because the guy has some perfectly reasonable questions about a used car that he owned.
ah, no harm no foul right. atleast now he knows what the real deal is if thats really what he intended by this thread.
If you guys look at the pics in his FS thread that got him barned then you'll notice Spec B wheels in the background, at least the edges of them.
Yea, sorry about bringin a bad taste into people's mouth's. I was just tryin to figure it out. 5 mins later... K, so whats the take on this guy? shady as hell or what? is it worth it for one of my Nissan Technicians to buy his old car? Or was every mod a hack job and poorly taken care of?
I thought I noticed that too...but didn't really think to bring it up...just thought I recognized the legacy wheels.
just noticed you can see the back bumper and one of the tail pipes also... nice car though. wish I could swing a spec B that new...
Not too shady, but he was basically learning about subarus on this car, alhtough I don't know how much work he did himself though. He seems to have had more than a few issues with the car (search threads started by 'taras' in the technical forum), which otherwise I'd expect to be pretty reliable. Although that might be just a reflection of him posting about every single little thing that bothered him. But I never saw how he drove it. I would think that the car would be about average in terms of being beat upon, don't think he made it to any of the ice races/events...
Personally, I wouldn't touch that thing. I know he had a tactrix cable, and was messing around with the open source tuning software. Who knows what kind of internal damage was sustained from him messing around with it, if any at all. It's a risk I wouldn't take with that car.
Well, I tuned this car about 6 months ago. He drove it hard. He also was prone to changing mods and changing the tune often, but last I heard, he was running a stage 2 + GMBCS from XPT. While that map is typically reliable, his car took some TLC when I tuned it, and I'm not sure what could've happened by him running an OTS map for an extended period of time. In all honesty, you may be better off finding another car. If you're tech is really into the car, I would highly suggest doing a compression and leakdown test before purchasing.
Those XPT maps are pretty safe, and a good starting point. I am 99% sure he messed around with the tune though. How much? Who knows. Better to be safe than sorry. Take Bullwinkle's advice and do the leakdown/compression test at the very least.
Nope and Yes.... its no the car that he originally started the original WMC thread about but it is the car that started all the other issues on him starting threads h ah aha He seemed to throw a lot of different parts at the car all the time... not sure what condition the engine is in.. like what has been stated.. do a comp test and leak down...
