I got this rock chip on my windshield today thats directly across from my eye level. Pretty annoying thing to stare straight at while I'm driving. So has anybody had rock chips in their windshield repaired? Just wondering if its noticeable (like haziness or scuffy) or should I try to get the whole windshield replaced. Insurance will cover it.
It's noticable and it doesn't ever fully go away. I just got a rock chip in my windshield from the Fall Fun Run yesterday, but it's at the very bottom and barely noticable.
Usually much less noticeable but still visible. Mine went from a nickle sized spiderweb behind the clockpod to a dime sized one with 10x less webbing after professional filling. If mine was in a more annoying location like yrs seems to be, or compromising the strucural integrity, I would have definitely had my insurance swap windshields (tho they only had heated windshields in stock).
After just going out and looking at it again (since the irritation has worn off since it's happened). It's about the size of a pen tip. Probably wouldn't have noticed it If I didn't leave a black mark around the chip. I think I could live with a chip repair for now since its pretty small still. Just hope it doesn't spread anymore for the time being. Sky58, Idget, Thanks for the replies. It helped.
I have a rockchip in my 06 windshield. And i swear now when i go over driveways or the body flexes from left to right you can hear the glass basicly crack. ****ING irratating
Might wanna get that fixed before it spreads hehe I'm getting mine sealed up today (hooray for insurance for once!) and I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
The chip is smaller, but you can still see it. The adhesive they use will bring back together some of the cracked glass (mainly, the out skirts of the chip), but the core where it hit is still there.
