I decided to tie wrap some of the wires that were hanging down from a alarm that came with the car. I got it all done and the car wouldnt start, after a couple hrs of trying to find the problem I decided to take the aftermarket alarm out(big mistake) car still wont start. Before the lights would work now the headlights dont come on at all . I might of cut a wire that went to the factory alarm. Does anyone have a wireing diagram so I can try to trace down where the wires for the factory alarm go? Its for a 99Rs with factory alarm
This is right from the directechs webiste from DEI. SC= Steering Column 12V-White-SC Starter-White/Black-SC Ignition-Green-SC Accesory-Yellow-SC Is it a Remote Start as well?? Does it have a starter kill relay?? If it does then that means that they cur the starter wire in half. And connected to the relay. IF it doesn't have a Remote Start then this should be all you need to get the car to start!!! From an Aftermarket alarm/Remote Start.
I pulled the aftermarket alarm out, right now the factory alarm is all thats in there. kind of weird that the radio and dash/head lights wont come on. when I reset the battery the manual says to hold the reset/valet button wile trying to start the car. When I do this the alarm chirps 4 times, is that a code for something?
That means it's going in to programing mode. Rich try this. 1) Take the neg. or pos. off the battery. 2) Turn the key to the run position. 3) Reconnect the battery, and see if it starts.
YEah if you arn't get headlights or dash im guessing thats either an acesseory fuse or acessesory wire.
I'm with everyone else...check the under hood fuses (with an ohm-meter to check continuity.) Sounds like a primary fuse somewhere blew, maybe an ignition fuse or something similar. If I was in/near Orr, MN I would take a look at it for ya.
well I got the all of the lights to work, took the relays out of the wifes car one was bad. Right now when you turn the key a relay under the dash clicks, nothin else. I checked every fuse and relay under the hood 3 times, and all the fuses in the car are good. The alarm arms and the doors lock and unlock with the remote. Any other things I should double check before I have to have it towed 120 miles to a subaru dealer??
Sounds like the starter kill wires are left unhooked. The aftermarket alarm most likely had them wired through the box.
