hahah lol I should have checked my phone. Ray called me right before I left my house at 12:20 to stay at home, and I finally got here at 1:50 to find out about his phone call. Then we are closing at 5pm!!! I should have checked my phone!!!
work got out at 1 today :woot: I say that not so much meaning I get to leave early but more that I got home in an hour instead of something much longer than that driving home in the snow at rush hour.

Hell yes! Apparently its unheard of for the university to call a snow day.last time I can remember getting a day off was back when I was a student for 911.
school shuts down at 3:15 today my 8 am class was cancelled went to my 10 am lab now my 2 pm lab is cancelled
i didn't even bother going to work today. i did go to the grocery store though and almost got destroyed by a truck.
I didn't go either ... I had an appointment at 10 and I am glad i had nowhere else to go afterword. There is fun snow, and then there is this stuff
the UofM is closed as of 2:30 first time in like 16yrs or so. the connectors are stopping at 5 and the buildings (ie coffman union) are closing at 6. so far 2 connectors have been accidents and 1 just stopped working. i need something to do in the down time if i am going to stay downtown for firestone tonight.
The wife got off at noon, they let everyone but the operators here at work leave early I'm an operator, so here I sit at work they let me have a free 2 hours off another day though..
Yeah, Lexus Of Wayzata closed for the first time EVER today. Closed at 7... wooooo... Yeah, pointless. They should have closed at 4.
I try to start early all the time so I normally get out by 1:00. I hate driving in traffic and on days like this its nice to get the first spot in the ramp.
Anyone driving a subaru would look terrible leaving early. My wife thought I should call subaru this morning before I dropped the car for a oil change. To which I replied, "it's a subaru dealership...they'll be open".
I was there at 7am...oil change done quicker than usual. I kind of like when we get snow like this, keeps the weaker drivers off the road.
I work for Eden Prairie. It was deemed an optional day, so its pretty much empty here, but we had to use comp time, so forget that! Total blast driving in anyway, and I am going cruzing for lunch. back roads to work are pure curves for driving sideways for miles.
grr. got in to work today and nobody was there. i have a key to get in but the doors were plowed in so i can't open the door. and now i'm home.
Half the team is here today, and instead of going home early yesterday .. I find out that half the people working here were put up in hotels overnight now, i'd rather be with my family, friends, in a bad snowstorm like that. To be told "nah, you can't go home early, but if you want you don't have to go home at all" is sort of a kick in the face .. but people may disagree. I think that this stupid co should have shut down yesterday and sent people home. Before it got bad. Then they wouldn't have had to pay for hotels for about 70 people ... :hsugh: I am glad I was not here... I would have taken my chances driving home cause there is just no need to stay. Then those people had to start at 7 - and some of them work UNTIL 7pm, and they can't go home early. Nah. F that. I am glad I had yesterday off.
lol, except some places (not knowing what you do) cant have a shortage of staff cuz that equates into millions lost, so its better for them to throw a huge party and bring lots of food in and keep people there instead of risking losing them the next day. Bottom line is most important, not really safety. I would of had kids stay at inlaws and brought the female to the hotel!
I work for Ameriprise on a phone queue - along with about 700 people in the phillipenes that do the same job. Basically, they could have shut us down and routed everything to the phillipenes, and if people didn't like it, they could call us back today. We're the bottom of the barrel in the company, so it was probably just done to make people feel like they really are cared about. They can at least go home early today, we're slow as heck ... Not that I have a problem with my co at all, I just hate the job I have right now
Does anyone know what happens to light rail when we get this much snow? How do they keep it clear? Just wondering since we're on the discussion of commutes.
