my clutch died on me today and i am looking for a new one. I have a 96 impreza with the EJ18. It is slipping about 750-1000 rpm's when i hit the gas in every gear including reverse. Any help will be appreciated.

apparently the '95+ 1.8L uses the same pressure plate bolt pattern as the 2.2L/2.5L. The '93 1.8L has a smaller diameter bolt pattern. SO in this case, you're able to buy OEM 2.5L replacement clutch kits and it'll bolt on no problem. Pedal feel may be a TINY bit stiffer. You'll have better clamping force and great drivability. Your 1.8L is will not have enough power to overrun the 2.5L clutch.

buy one that's made for the 98-01 2.5L. TRUST ME!

FROM what OTHERS have done, they have put a clutchkit made for the 2.5RS on their 1.8L flywheel, but theirs was a '95. wagonL HAD a '93 Impreza 1.8L wagon. IT was a '93, ITS flywheel was different. SO it appears that SUBARU changed the flywheel to a 2.2L setup. SO that means that you can bolt on a clutch made for the 2.2L/2.5L.

YOU don't need a 2.5RS flywheel. THAT flywheel is slightly heavier than the 2.2L and POSSIBLY YOURS. THERE IS NOTHING TO BE GAINED from putting on a 2.5RS flywheel. IT is in no way BETTER IN TERMS OF PERFORMANCE to your 1.8L. IT being heavier will probably make your engine run SMOOTHER because of the weight.

Your FLYWHEEL will work with clutchkits made for the 2.2L/2.5L

Okay, so i can put any clutch package that is made for a 1.8L(95+), 2.2L, or 2.5L on my car. The 2.5L will have more grip than the others, which means more torque to the wheels:biggrin: (even though i dont have much:roll:) but a slightly stiffer pedal. I can put a 2.5L flywheel on but it wont give me any performance and might take some throttle response away:ugh:.

Would anyone suggest a lightened 2.5L flywheel over my stock one?
What does anyone think about any of these ebay clutches?

The F1 Racing one was said by MANY to be a rebadged Exedy Stg1. SO it is a good buy.
If you want some performance, get a streetlite FW. Too light will make driving difficult, unless you can cope with it and drive it.

Good too know! How long did it take to ship to you?

I am buying the F1 Racing clutch kit. From what i understand I can put this kit on my stock flywheel, Right?

If i decide to keep my flywheel, should i get it resurfaced or what are the benefits of getting it resurfaced?
