I'm looking for a very inexpensive barebones PC. My little sister's PC (1.0 GHz) bit the dust. Drive is shot and memory seems bad. I have a HD, Burner, NIC and case. I just need a board, proc, and memory. Preferably onboard video. Nothing fancy, just inexpensive. Let me know. Thanks.

If you don't go that route, Microcenter has a MB+Celeron 356 combo for $90, just add a cheap heat sink ($10) and memory (2x256M DDR-400, $40). $140 for everything. Not a screamer, but not too bad either. That's pretty much exactly the system I'm typing on now (Kitchen PC, not my main system).

I've got a Gigabyte GA-7IXE4 Socket 462 mobo with a 900 Mhz Athlon processor and 128 Mb of ram here. it's also got a small graphics card (16Mb IIRC), sound card, ethernet, and modem on it.

it was my aunts computer. we originally replaced it all because the primary CD drive wasn't working (ATAPI error). but the same drive didn't work in the new system, so the board *might* be fine.

either way, 3 of the 4 IDE drives work just fine.

    info on mobo:
    http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/con...IXE4+Motherboard&distributor=0&submit1=Search

upgradeable to up to 768 Mb of ram. and I've seen 1.2 Ghz processors for this socket go for pretty cheap on pricewatch.

I'm not looking to get much for this setup. it's been sitting on the speaker in my living room for about 4 months. make me an offer if you're interested.

If you dont mind spending a lilttle bit more, I would prefer an Emachine for about 300 something brandnew. I though i saw some deals like that. Or get a Campaq or sony at Pawn Shop for under 300 bucks.

I'm looking for something really really really cheap. I might run over to Microcenter and see what they got.

Well, thanks anyways, I ended up getting a Sempron 3000+ with motherboard, fan and 512 mb memory for $125 (after tax) at Microcenter. Chux and Taras, thanks for the offers. The 900 mhz was going backwards and the dell was posted after I bought the new one. I really appreciate it. Maybe someone on here will see those and take you up on your offers.

    Seriously, worst advice evAr! LOL.

Back when I worked with the Geek Squad @ Worst Buy, I would estimate that 80-85% of the broken machines that came in were eMachines. The majority of them had bad motherboards, fyi.
