Related to my other thread about my sad day as a new Soob owner..I need a replacement for my driveshaft. A lot of people on other sites referred me back to this site and suggested that you guys have a lot of extra parts lying around.. :/ Does anyone have anything? I appreciate it. Thanks, Troy
It's an auto, sorry. And the driveshaft failed because the carrier bearing did..and I could hear the shaft flopping around underneath the car. Based on my research, only the carrier bearing can not be replaced. . enter new 'driveshaft', correct? I've been told that an Impreza and Legacy driveshaft will work with little to no modification, but a Forester DS would be best. I've also been informed that several people have successfully fabbed their own without the carrier bearing - I'm a decent welder, so this is an option as well. Any insight on this stuff? Thank you, MN-Soobers? Troy
You are asking for trouble welding a driveshaft, it probably wont be balanced correctly, and might take out tailhousing bearings and the diff pinion bearing.
