WTB:: factory intake silencer

What is the intake silencer? *Newb*

 

the big plastic thing that is in the fender that the plastic duct hooks to.

I burned mine.

 

I cut the bottom off mine.....and today, i can hear that high pitch spooling noise very nicely load. Its like almost 0* degree or something.

 

How?

Why?

 

Mine is sitting in the closet ready to go.

 

For Paul: people remove their silencer boxes to hear the turboz soundz morez. I had mine off when I got the car but now have gp moto elbow.

 

i threw mine in a festive manor at a dumpster which then bounced off and hit a van window.

 

There actually no data that removing stock box gives any increase in power. You actually make it worse by taking it off. There is more dirt getting sucked in to the filter and the stock ram air is actually functional. The best way to increase the intake sound and keep the filter clean is to just cut the bulge out and duct tape it.

 

Must be a clear color and fit an 06/07 STi.

Who has one that matches this?

 

newer STI ones are clear eh? news to me.

 

Well, not clear per say, but it's not white either. So clear is the best way to describe it

 

I'll trade for mine. It's already cut and duct taped!! :laugh:

 

Ohh mine is out and for good reason, but why cut the bottom off. I figure you would suck in water and crap if it were like that.

 

He means cut the bottom off and duct tape the hole.

Leaving it in with a cut and taped hole helps pass the ram intake air through the fender to the filter.

 

I have a black one sitting here next to me $20 its yours.

 

I need one for my year guys.

 

Dave I don't think any have a different shape, also why do you need this so quickly or did I miss that?
