i want an xti cuz it cleans itself and i'm lazy but either one would work prolly ps thanks carl i'm going to look right now
well remember its like a car.. the first tiem tehy realise a new feature it may have issues... I bought mine of my professional photography friend as she was looking at one but decided to go higher again.. but likes the idea, but is just concerned to see if it has issues.... but other than that the extra 2m pixels is only good if you are gonna be making posters.... ha ha... either way dont buy the kit lense.. its plastic on the mounts, spend a little extra and get a metal one.. I just purchased one for $139
I have the rebel xt with the factor 18mm to 55mm lens and a second one that is 75mm to 300mm lens. I also bought the polirizer and the UV lens filters.
Remeber, the glass is forever, and the bodies can always be updated. Also what are you looking to do with it?? You can get into the nikon d50/40 fairly cheap if you look around. Russ
most people that hold a rebel in their hand find it unfomfortable, i borrowed one for a weekend and couldnt get over how my (realitively small) hands were too big for the grip... the d50 fits much better, and feels a lot like my nikon n6006 so i'd definately go with that one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=280057515482&rd=1&rd=1 then all you need is one of these... ha hah a if you buy it i will borrow it for the trip to the beach in Australia... ha ha ha
you buy that for me, I give you MNsubaru sweatshirt, and I let you borrow it when you goto australia. (I will need a copy of the pics as well!!!)
http://www.westphoto.com/ thats where he works. I found one of his threads http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12445
olympus evolt e 500 Comes with both a telephoto zoom lens, as well as a wide angle lens and was the first to use the ultrasonic self cleaning lens tech, and its cheap for DSLR, just an option.
I can confirm that he no longer works at West photo :emo:. I am running a nikond70s and I like it. It does more than I want it to, so as I learn more it is capable of doing it. I have 1 good smaller lens (18-70) that I use for my close up stuff, and lately I have been renting the 80-200 afs lens for the event stuff that I go to. Sonner or later I will pony up the $1500 for the big lens. Russ
that sucks, if ya need it ya need it though.. those lenses get to be crazy expensive!!!!! wrx1, reply 2 pm?
Where and how much? I really want a nice telephoto, but man, $$$$$! I'd like to do some photography at events (autocross etc), but 55mm just wont cut it.
Well, I rent the 80-200afs from West Photo, and I think it goes for $40 a day or something like that. I have a buch of high speed stuff from a track day up at BIR and I have a bunch of rally pics from Ojibwe. If I find the links to them I can post them up. If you plan on shooting everything, you will need a couple of lens's to get everything. I started out with some cheaper sigma 35-70mm and a 80-300mm, and they worked out great. Once I got used to using the nice lens's and could see how much faster they are it is tough to go back. I still have my 80-300mm that I use for some slow/distant stuff, but that lens just couldn't keep up with anything over 80mph. I guess you could also look for a d70s body, they might have some pretty good discounts on those since they came out with the d80 body. I wouldn't be worried about pixels to much. My d70s shoots 6.1mp and I think that is something like 3000x2000. Russ
As far as I can tell, the only difference between the D50 & D70 is WB fine tuning, remote flash, and other nuances. Same sensors. I think the D40 is the replacement for the D50. It's dumbed down in comparison with more emphasis on auto functions, more menu adjustments for the important stuff (as opposed to deticated buttons), and an EOS sensor so it can get into the higher ISOs. I'm saving for an 18-200mm VR lense. I'll take that over a new body anyday.
