I started a miata fund for myself. So i am looking for a older (1990-1995) miata. No rust or very little rust. No matter how many miles on the clock as long as it runs. I am planning on making it a project car for the summer. So little things broken is ok. I will pay up to 2500 for it if its in better condition would consider paying more. I know this is not a Miata forum, so stupid comments are not welcomed. I am sure someone here had one or might has one or knows someone that might be selling theirs. So let me know what you got for me, Taras
Just stay on Carsoup/Autotrader/CL. Something will eventually appear. It'll give you more time to save those pennies.
What are my chances that i can get this car for 2k? KBB value for this car is $1905 for Excellent condition. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/car/725943836.html
It's also the wrong season to be trying to buy a Miata. The dead of winter is when the deals are to be had. Not when it's been 70-80 and sunny for the last week. You will probably have to look outside of the Metro area to find what you want in a reasonable amount of time. MN is not exactly known for having a lot of Miatas. And the ones that are here are likely to have rust and stuff. AZ, NM, TX, NV... these are all great places to do a search for a Miata and will also give you the chance to take an awesome road trip. edit: Also, the older 1.6L Miatas get great gas mileage. In the current economy good-mileage cars are going for a premium.
Hm, why? I'd be looking either for 90 model or a 94 with a torsen diff. I was looking for one last year, and chances of getting smth local for close to kbb value are pretty slim. Expand your search to include neighbouring states and maybe ebay. Personally I would rather buy 99+ model, a lot more of those for sale for much more reasonable prices.
youre the one trying to lowball the **** out of some guy.... and way to go on spelling taras, make sure you google ALL words you dont know how to spell. call the guy up and see what he says, like etchy said youre not going to find a deal on one this time of year, or one worth keeping that isnt way overpriced here in mn. go to the southern states and pick up a high milage one with rough interior for 2k with a mint body.
I dont know why its say i am not allowed to post. I want an older miata with smaller engine and i like the flip up lights ( i could later get flush mounted once that look sick). I looked on ebay and there lots of nice cars there but its a long trip to a like Tennessee or New York to get one. And i am still a bit worried about buying a car on ebay.
Unless you do a compression/leakdown check + tranny oil analysis on every car your consider - I'd say that buying on ebay is safer than dealing with a private party, since you get free insurance from misrepresentation and major problems within 30(90?) days. If I was looking for an early miata - I would rather buy clean bodied car from ebay than some local rust bucket that 'never seen snow' according to sellers... Also check out sccaforums and grm classifieds for smth already prepared close to what you want.
Yeah i agree with you about the rust bucket problem. I am looking at a few on ebay right now. I am going to check out the white one that i posted from CL tomorrow. The owner said the car does not have any visible rust.
just read the eligibility rules for the insurance and they are not so great. here is an excerpt: thats when you are not covered.
If I was selling a very economical car right now that I felt was worth $3500, and somebody called and offered me $2000 I would laugh out loud and hang up the phone.
My step dad is on vacation till Monday, she is going to talk it over with him and they will let me know.
