my family has had really good luck with the escorts, even back in the day when the smallest one fit above the visor on the passinger side, my dad currently has the passport 8500

I have a V1. As far as I can tell it's a ticket detector. When it goes off, for real not false, if you're speeding you look around, see the cop with laser and then get a ticket.

It does save you if they are moving and aren't in parked in a speed trap.

If I'm going to speed, I keep my eyes up and watch for cars tapping their brakes ahead. I've gotten two tickets with my V1. It went off and oh, yep there he is. And yep, crap, here he comes.

Best bet, cruise (with no CEL, damn Subie for that one) at 8+ mph over speed limit. Or know the road and where they hide and put it down! :)

^^it's cheaper to pay the ticket yourself a couple of times over than to buy a K40.

I have a V1. Has worked fine on my long distance highway trips. Otherwise, around town, just try to keep within speed limits.

uuhh, sorry, but no radar detector has a 4 mile range. It would be utterly useless. (While I do agree that the X50 is a great unit, as is the V1)

Radar detectors are good mostly for the hiways and rural areas.

Around town, the beep so much that you always have to watch yourself.
I use to have a Valentine-1. I figure it defeats the purpose of having one when it forces you to slow down anyway.

    Good Radar Detector = $300
    Obeying Traffic Laws = Free
