I am looking to get into an Sti. I want one that has preferably not been modded and has maintenance records. I am especially not interested in any car that has a nasty fart cannon muffler or atmo blow off valve. Clear title only, no reconstructions. I figure a 2004 or 2005, maybe a 2006 is in my budget. I would prefer WR Blue, but Silver or White would work as well. Bonus points for a car with good winter tires. Let me know what you have, the vin and what you are looking to get for it. If anyone else is interested I just checked out an sti at toyota city. It was a 2005 with 75k. Silver. It was in good shape with winter tires. The guy told me it was stock when I got there it was most obviously, to me anyway, not stock. It had an intake, downpipe, cobb exhaust, front sway bar, rear strut brace I think, racing harness, passport radar and fire extinguisher on the passanger seat, possible tune, not sure. Guessing no cat by the loudness of the exhaust. It was crazy fast, though it is my first test drive of an sti. Way faster than my 02 wrx. They were willing to go $16k, but I wasn't willing to pay that for a car that looked like it was autocrossed.
Exhaust is easy to fix so I wouldn't get hung up on that. Contact Scott Putnam at Tonka Suby and see what he can scare up for you.
Thanks for the info. I was thinking about checking it out. 16k for an STi is not bad. I noticed the few STis for sale (private party) on craiglist. Granted, STis are great car etc. KBB for private party excellent lists an 05 with 55k miles as worth 19.5k. I wonder how they are asking for 21.5-22k for those cars. May be they owe more on those. I did notice KBB prices suddenly took a plunge. I know this first hand because I sold my s2k at a bargain price in October. Considering all those, I decided to go a different route. Also, I looked for low mile Evo 8s and none were to be found in reasonable price which were not manhandled. Sorry for going off-topic.
It's s 2005 with about 55k on it. Completely stock at the moment, except a simple stereo to play mp3's. Came with two sets of wheels, gold bbs and asa's with winters. Also came with a Subaru warranty to 100k. Don't want to say what I paid, but it was a really good deal.
