so for the past few weeks the paint on my center consel has been flaking apart. i havnt used any substance to clean my interior. ive only used a static cloth for about a year now. WTF should i do.. what could be wrong?
its probably because you havent cleaned your interior...repaint them sh*ts somthing cool like green or pink, easy job
use proper plastic paint or interior paint... not normal spray paint... prepare the surface PROPERLY or it will just flake again...
You consulted me on how to remove dash pieces, not on how to paint dash pieces. And yes, I can give you a step by step on how to paint.
oh i assumed you knew what i was up to.. anyway i took the pieces off and taped what didnt need to be painted. then i used a fine grit sandpaper and roughed up the surface then added 2 coats of paint.. moderatly thin... and then a clear coat
You forgot primer. Absolutely necessary. And primer has to dry for, at the very least, 1 hour before you start messing with it. And as far as I know, on dash pieces, there is nothing to mask off...you pull them off, remove the hazard button and the vents, and then paint away. Eitherway, what grit paper did you use for sanding the surface before painting? And did you clean the surface with soapy water and rinse thouroughly before painting? And with clear coat, applying 2 very thin coats then a medium coat is the best way to apply it. Otherwise it runs. And what was the temperature at the time of painting...and humidity? There are lots of ways this can be F'd up.
um no primer. yes i did clean the surface for my auto there was a piece to mask,, and then the ash tray area dont know the grit but it was pretty fine and it was about 70 in the garage.. not much humitidy
