So I saw an article a few weeks ago about cabin air filters. I thought, no big deal, how much debris could really get into an 'in-cabin' air filter...my findings were astounding.:eek3: I would strongly recommend checking these and having them replaced if they look anything like mine! Contact 3rik at Minnetonka or Mr. Brian Shorten at Brooklyn Park Subaru and get your discount! It was like $34 with tax. after discount and they had them in stock for my 02 WRX. Btw, thanks Brian! The filter sits behind the glove box, remove maybe 6 screws or so, remove the glove box and unplug any wires in the way. Replace filter. Slap everything back together, it's that simple....and what a difference in the cabin air, much better flow from the a/c, heater, etc. Look at these\/\/\/! The second picture is the actual light transmission through the filter with no flash from the camera! ZOMG, this was in my glovebox!!?
wow filthy just a side note not all subies have cabin air filters.... check to see if you have one first before coming and bothering mr shorten and i demanding air filters!
:werd: There were leaves, bugs, lint/hair?, and alot of dust and dirt. My guess would be 122,000 miles, and this is the first time it's been replaced.:roll:
Mine sucked in a ton of elm tree seeds which then started rotting and made the cabin stink. Pulled it out and tossed it in the bin. Kinda wish I had one now and again, but if anything, I'll cut one down from a furnace filter. Not paying the kind of $$ SoA seems to think that thing is worth.
Wow you paid $35 for something I got at wal-mart for $15 and made 10 of my own. I got a furnace hypoalgernic air filter and cut it up and taped the edges and threw it in my 03' wrx since they didn't come stock with one but the box is made for one. Go with a DIY method and save some $$.
all 02' and newer have a blower motor box that accepts cabin filters, you just have to take off your glovebox to see if you already have one or not.
Wow. I think im gonna try the DIY for fun. I have been noticing that my car really gets a lot of dust inside. of course I drive with my windows down more often then not, but between my alergies and all, it would be nice to do a good filter in there for fun too.
I did everything myself, except for molesting Wal-Mart filters.:biggrin: ..I leave that up to the pros. j/k I just wanted my heating/air conditioning back and needed A+ fitment! Besides...if we all stop buying parts from Brian and 3rik, they would be out of jobs!:emo:
Yeah, I put one of those filters in my old '04 wagon and was amazed at how much less duss accumulated on the dash.
