    Hi Everyone,

    I'm looking for a 01 Subaru Forester motor. Anyone parting out a Forester, please let me know!

    Not sure what type of 2.5L the 01 Forester had, but odds are, you can find the exact same motor in cars spanning nearly a decade. I'm sure someone can chime in on the specifics, but yeah, the 2.5L N/A motor comes in alot of other Subarus. It could widen your search a bit

    Yeah, I'm not sure what other Subarus have the same motor. I think the Forester is a Ej25 (I THINK) if that helps anyone. I don't know what makes it a sohc or dohc.

    SOHC = Single Overhead Cam
    DOHC = Double Overhead Cam
    Easiest way to tell is to check how many cam gears are on the front of your heads.
    Also, the sparkplugs on a SOHC are usually located on the top side of your head covers whereas DOHC heads have the sparkplugs in the center of the head cover

    Contact Subaru Surgeons in Hudson. They got the block out of my son's 01 Forester. Had a bit of rod knock of course. But that was then.... It's a SOHC. They differ in timing belt gears and intake manifolds and stuff like that.
