ok, so i am still strugling with that HID hit i got. The problem is that when i have low beam on the high beam is actually on and vise versa. So my question is where the ground wire is on the headlight harness? And where is the DRL box, and how can i tell if it is disabled. Thanks a lot, Taras
At least you have high beam and low beam, my HIDs are ghetto rigged so I have it turned to high beam for it to actually be on. If I switch to low beam they start flashing, I really don't mind though. It's really bad but I've used it ONCE to get a slow car to pull over so I can pass. lol. oopsies.
What brand is it? The kit I helped install on an EVO had to have the wires criss-crossed in order for it to work. Put the lows on and use a multi-meter to figure out which one has power, hook the lows up that set of wires. Do the same for the highs.
I think I figured it out. However now when I have low beam turned on and turn on my fogs I highbeam turns on and fogs are super dim.
I did not removie it myself. But i looked for it and i think i found it. Is it a little silver box with a plug facing down right next to the turbo?
iirc the drl box is in the cabin close to the glove box area under the dash, rectangular black plastic box.
how big is that box? I cant really find it, there is a ton of things in there and a lot of little boxes with plugs and wires. Does anyone have a picture of it? How can i tell if i have it disabled or not.
i think it's around 3" by 2" or so. it will say "drl" on it. it might be on the drivers side too, i can't remember which side but it should be easy to spot since it's one of the bigger relay boxes.
yeah it's black, it's a relay for the drl to be enabled, when you find it just unplug it and the drl's will be disabled. it it's plugged in it is most likely working.
Most kits for the 9007 headlamp bulb will only have a single filament...unless you specifically buy a "Bi-Xenon" or "Hi-Lo" kit. If you only purchased the standard kit, then you may have some problems getting your fogs to work properly due to the fact that your high beams aren't connected any more, and the fogs utilize your high beam relay to work. If your electrical abilities are good enough, you can solder a 2.5ohm resistor from the high beam connector terminal to the low beam connector terminal. Your high beams still won't work, but you won't have issues with the fogs anymore.
That really shouldn't effect the HID's normal operation...as long as his headlamp switch is turned on.
The only problem i have with my kit is when i turn the high beams on the fogs go off(which is normal) I still have DRL which i dont mind. Taras if you wanna come down to Rochester i could help ya. If you havent found out already.
