02 wrx blaze yellow. fully built project car, can not finish. must sell/trade! DULUTH

Up for sale is my 2002 subaru wrx. i bought this car last summer, stock with 104k miles on it. i never drive my cars in winter and it was stored all winter with the plan for the crazy build that is listed below. i am selling the car at the just about finished state as i am losing my spot to work on it in my brother's garage and also have to move soon. i need to either pay the car off and buy something else or trade it for a now running car. i would accept a srt 4, sti, evo, 350z, or a running wrx with some mods or maybe something else. make your offer. at this price it is a STEAL of deal and like i said i just need it gone. if it doesn't sell it'll be sittin on the street until it does. anywho, onto the details....... ENGINE: 04 sti ej257 short block, cp 8.2:1 100mm pistons, manley h beams, brand new crank, acl race main and rod bearings. HEADS: stage 4 ported heads with combustion chambers just polished making final compression 8.7:1, crower 272 cams, ferrera valves, brian crower titanium retainers and springs, TURBO twin scroll gt40/t3 .82 a/r turbo, OTHER GOODS: 4-1 header, catless up pipe, catless 3" exhaust with 2 resonators to help db level, swift lowering springs, koni struts(thing is SO SO SO fun in the corners) 3300 stall converter, modded valve body, 24x12x3 fmic, full polished piping, 46mm ext gate, all new drilled and slotted rotors and new pads, tgv delete's and an amazing job done on them, ultimate racing 1000cc injectors, agency big rails, buschur 600awhp fuel pump, all aluminum radiator, i'm sure i'm forgetting some stuff but there's over $30k into the car and engine and trans!!!! i would love to see the car go as it's already started and ran but it just needs the final touches and to be tuned and i just dont have the time to do it :-( thank you for looking and please ask any questions you may have. i will sell it for $17,000 with EVERYTHING i have for it or like i said, trade for a now running car. it can be something stock and if you need a daily driver i could even throw in my "show car" if the car being offered for trade is of enough value. let me know i just do not want the worry of it being on the street in under a week. -Dustin 2189409077 if you wanna call.

Sweet car! looks like it would give fobia a run for his money ;-). I wish you would have had a write up thread, so we could have followed the progress.

    good luck with the sale.

What is the state of the motor? Did Phill take it apart, or is the motor where it was at as of a month ago?

Its still a great deal for the parts + car. I just want everyone to know where it is at in the build process exactly. I know its not in a "ready-to-tune" state.

it hydralocked itself on fuel last time i started it and i shut it off. the starter just clicks now and i haven't done anything further to dig into it. the SAME EXACT THING happened to a friends jeep where it hydralocked itself with too much fuel and then had some loose starter connections. the block is all brand new and has been put together and taken apart a few times checkin on stuff so i dont know why it'd be anything with the block. phil did not do much in the 3 weeks he had my motor and i got mad and went and took it back and put it back together with my brother and i on the 4th. i have a pic of how the car is sitting RIGHT NOW. motor and EVERYTHING except the utec is in. carpet is pulled up to plug it in but i just didn't plug it in for the initial start. i'm not sure what else it needs. i'd like to finish it, especially in time for the uni trip in two weeks. but with my luck and lack of motivation it'll be running and tuned in time for a uni trip in '08!!! gotta get some motivation to get on it again. it's been a long 7 months!!!!!! that's all i can say. i'd like to get it done. i love the car! i love awd and would like to stick with it and i know if i sell it the chances of me ever gettin into another subaru, at least under my ownership, is slim to none because of the headaches i've hit here.

if i do keep it, this is just the first, as we'll call it, "mild" stage. i need some MOTIVATION to actually work on the thing instead of sit on my keester. you have no idea how many all nighters this thing has seen and now i can't bring myself to even make it to the garage let alone touch the car! comments like "i just did something involuntary....." and "sounds like you'd give fobia a run for his money" definately help! if i can get it all done and how i want it'll definately be :yumyum:

How do you know it hydrolocked? That is very bad if it did happen. The mechanical advantage the rod has on the combustion chamber is huge, and can bend stuff very easily.

So basically, it sounds like the whole motor needs to be torn down and checked over. And it'll need some tranny love. A stock 4EAT, even with a torque converter and worked-over valve body, cannot handle a 30R for too long, let alone a 40R.

i just talked to dan last night and told him the whole update. he had been making the posts based on his last known state of the car and it is much past that. i just really dont have any motivation for it to be honest. i'd love to see it go, and under my ownership but it's so hard with no motivation to even drive to the shop. someone with a stock sti want to pick it up? or an srt, or 350z or something fun and turbo'd(unless it's the z) i'm stuck on what to do. if i SELL it i can really get a lot of stuff taken care of that i really should and get moving on new living arangments. i dunno guys, anyone interested in it?

I know this is probably not what you want to do but if no one picks it up I bet you could make a decent amount of money if you parted it out. I know I would pick up a few things as I am sure a few other people. If you got that engine un locked I bet you could sell that for a fair amount of money if its all built and done. It would be quite a bit of work and a terrible thing to do but if you are really looking to get money back and start something new that may be your only option. What kind of trans did you pick up? The IPT 4EAT?

According to the conversation we had, it didn't actually hydrolock. It actually ran, on two cylinders because two injectors weren't plugged in. The two that were were wet with fuel, and 1000cc injectors w/out a tune will do that.

My bad...might be easier to sell the engine then since it is capable of running, just needs finishing. Like I said though you could probably part the car out and get rid of those aftermarket goodies probably pretty easy if you really want to get rid of the car.

are you sure you don't want to finish this thing and have a chance? lol!

i know how you feel with the project. been there and all i can say is try to get it done. the first time you get in it and take it around the block it is the best feeling ever. except for when you have it tuned and are wooping peoples asses left and right.

Just out of curiousity would you take a 2003 Audi 1.8t with aproximately 50xxx miles? If you are at all serious about it please send me a PM otherwise I just figured I would throw it out there
