Hi everyone. Quick info. I had a 02 wrx with 76k miles. The body went bad so I bought a 03 rolling shell. The tranny on the 02 was perfect. I had a shop recently swap out my good motor and tranny to the shell. Heres the problem. I can't shift Into first smoothly and second gear as well. Its like it skips those and goes to third and fourth. Its weird because once its in it seems good. The clutch also seems soft for what it is.
either they did a quick switch with the tranny or they didn't bleed the clutch the right way (which is a pain in the a$$)
Can you elaborate on the first part? Are 1/2 gates off or hard to engage. Or can you get into the lane but can't physically engage either gear without grinding. Can you clutchless rev match it into 1 or 2? Any different with the car off vs running? Does the entire shifter seem off center? How about the throw up and down between 1/2, 3/4, and 5/r? Are those all even and feel the same as before? Re: the soft clutch. Is it always soft? Soft as in pedal effort? Where does it engage now and where did it engage before? Could be clutch bleed but don't see why they'd swap the slave unless the shell didn't come with one. Either way you can move it as a closed system.
Easier to move the slave, lines, and master as a closed unit in that scenario imho. but yeah all just speculation at this point with the amount of info given.
The pedal doesn't seem to have such spring. Also i have to push as hard as I can to the left. On the shifter to slide into first or second.
