Cobb Tuning stage 1: Accessport. ...maaaaaybe a downpipe on top of that for stage 2. (maintains OEM catback for stealth)

Just a reminder, a warranty covers all factory installed parts but doesn't cover abuse or damage related to the parts that you have had installed. I.E., If your tranny explodes from racing, that's your fault and the dealer will likely decline your warranty on the transmission. If it is something like your wheel bearings going out even if you have a 400 WHP STi, it's a factory installed part and it should get fixed under warranty.

I bet it was Evan, he told me he raced a STi the other day and beat it. I think you just need alittle pactice driving the car and you should be able to take him, or it will be very close ;)

You can probably get away with doing a turbo-back exhaust and a reflash without voiding the warrenty. Ide look into Invidia, HKS or TurboXS for your exahust and Cobb makes a device called the Accessport that allows you to reflash your cars ecu to stage 1 or 2 maps depending on your mods. Hope this help!

yup, that's him, my boss's neighbor...
if you go with the cobb AP stage 1 you'll keep up with him.

you might want to go to www.clubwrx.net a become a member (free) and get into the STi forums, people there are very knowledgable and will give you the best advise on upgrades without warranty concerns. Also, there is a list of mods Subaru has put together that dealers need to look for (To void warranties). That list is on the site. do a search and you'll find it.

However, the Cobb AP is the easiest and quickest. 15 minutes of your time will give you ( i think) another 20-25 horsepower. well worth it and you can easily un-install it in 15 minutes if you go to the dealer. check out the cobb tuning website.

I bought my through www.flatironstuning.com, they are out of Boulder, CO. they are a car dealer and tuning company. However, you can get the Cobb AccessPort from a lot of places. you can buy them used as well, but they are usally still 550-600 used. the new price is 645 for an STi. Here's their hyperlink to the AP page. FYI: You probably will never see a new AP for less than the standard price of 645.
    http://www.flatironstuning.com/shop/pc-550-570-cobb-sti-accessport-ecu-programmer.aspx

Just make sure you get the version for the 04, it might be different than an 05. (It will only let you pick an 04 or 05 if you go through their website. phone number is there as well. I placed my order online and received it within four days.

yes, it already has all the maps you need. the book will come with it and explain everything. it's a plug and play type of thing. If you need I'm sure someone up there will help you install it. If not, I can help, but you'll have to drive to Edina (heater garage) to do it. it's very easy.

W/O researching I'd say that's a good deal. What color is it and where did you buy it? Clean title? the best part is your warranty.
yeah, I got a killer deal on my 04 wrx so I was able to throw money at it immediately. However, I'm getting the STi itch and might scratch it in the spring. I still love my car tough....

I have seen you at your bosses house, he lives right up the street from me. You should tell him to join the forum. If you go the other way on my street there is another 02 wrb wrx stage 2(wrxpeed). Also if you go over the trackes there is another wrb wrx with exhaust and what not and now i also keep seeing an 06 sti blue and gold. Ther are alot of other poeple with subarus on this forum in our area as well. So we have a lot of good subarus in our area.

That was me you came by on bunker. If I was you i would start off at cobb stage 2 and buy it all used to save some money. Then if you want you can always go bigger and still use all the cobb stage 2 parts that would already have.

I should plan another Andover meet again, seems like more people are in the area now!

There will always be a car that's faster. Being that you drive an STi, there'll be tons of cars with big power wanting a chunk of the STi. Like my Forester XT. ;) You know... even Mike Tyson gets challenged all the time.

I think we'll all agree on that one. If you drive a WRX or STi everyone will want a piece of you. It amazing how many times people pull up next to you at a stop light and try to provoke a race. Just be careful not get wreckless or rack up expensive tickets.

You really cant do much to not void your warranty. You can do cat back exhaust(no down/up pipe). Technically you cant even use a Cobb AP because a dealer would see it as a "boost modifying device", but you can't see it so go for it.

If you buy an access port...buy it from Cobb directly. Free shipping! You can also download the maps from them, then transfer them to your access port. Takes about 7-8 min to download them to your ECM and your good to go!

BTW... Full turbo back exhaust, and Cobb Tuning can make you smile from ear to ear, but your warrant will be "voided"...unless you know someone

I wouldnt say they would "void" your warrenty. If something like a side morror stopped working they cant deny you, now if your clutch or something in your driveline broke they will blame it on the exhaust and your done for.

A warrenty cannot be voided! a warrenty claim can be denied! Like dream said if your stereo stopped working or your power windows got stuck your claim could not be "denied" for you having tbe and cobb. If you broke your clutch they would possibly deny that claim, reason being they could say the factory clutch is designed for 300 hp and 300tq

yea before you start going mod crazy and pissing money down the drain on a handfull of parts why dont you spend some money on driving lessons or a track day? a car is only as fast as the drive
