I have a 04 wrx that's currently running in Limp Mode, wont rev past 4.5k rpm in 4th gear and occasionally in 3rd gear. The code i got was P0546 and I have tried resetting via unplugging battery. It ran good for a bit and after I pumped gas, the code came back. I repeated that step, but car is still stuck in limp mode without the check engine light being on. I have also tried the resistor mod, but it had no effect. Would I have just to get the car tuned now?

MODs: gutted/sti up pipe, helix down, greddy exhaust

Are you driving the car on a stock tune?

I am planning to get the spark plugs and filter done for sure this weekend. I'm undecided if I should get the boost controller now or wait after winter.

Are you a real person or just trolling? Your problems seem to have nothing to do with your questions. What is this thread really about?

    EDIT:
    Check the GOOGLE SEARCH!
There are other threads like this ONE or this ONE

If you have a problem then there are a few options to look into... check the info out there... ask us questions, try and fix your problem.

My statement of being undecided about getting a boost controller was a response to Nuke's Recommended maintenance that he gave me when I was going to get my car re-tuned by him. I have looked at those threads and I CLEARLY STATED THAT I HAVE DONE THE RESISTOR MOD, but it had no effect in fixing the car's issue with limp mode.

I asked if I should get my car tuned mainly to delete the code

Ok, now we are getting somewhere. I think it is safe to assume this is still a problem if you are getting the code. Why wouldn't you want to look into fixing the issue vs ignoring the code?

When I initially checked the code for wrxs; it didn't appear to be serious. I thought resetting the ecu would do the trick and it did until I pumped gas and the check engine light popped back up. I did the resistor mod after reading around and thought that it would fix the code, but it hasn't. I have done the resistor mod three times and still the same results so i'm unsure if something else is wrong or does it just have to be corrected by code delete/tune

In one of the threads I saw someone said something about a sensor... there might be other "fixes"

EDIT: nevermind, I didn't read enough... but really, I would do more research. I am sure others have had this issue.

I think I will have to get the maintenance that Nuke Recommended done this weekend and get a tune done all together to delete the code and get it running right.

Hey did you check THIS THREAD on NASIOC? It seems that people have done the mod you did and it didn't work the first few times. You should try it again with the "tricks" that they are suggesting.

Sweet Jesus what is a resistor mod? And why do I have to research it to provide you with information?

I went into "Limp Mode" one time, but it was mostly due to too much whiskey.

If you've gone into the whiskey limp mode, it's going to be hard to do the resist-her mod...
