I'm eyeing a couple of brand new 05 LGT Wagon for a very good deal. Year end close out are nice but the only bad part of it is... the left over 05 LGT I saw are AT, no MT in site :(

What's everyones thought on this idea?

    Modding potentual?

I'm shooting for a 400hp sleeper... and yes, it's a wagon muahahaha. Too bad they never brought an STi wagon over.

I remember there was a guys out in Hawaii who had a White WRX wagon completed converted with all STI parts. He was selling it for around $24k. Sounds like a fun idea, hope it works out.

that would be a sweet car. i bet the 5eat could handle alot more juice then the 5spd that would come with the car.

I think a auto LGT will do you just fine. Is a little roomier then your impreza and since is a auto everybody can drive it.

Why not the B-spec?? or the Hot new Mazda speed 6?

Spec B: I'm not feeling the love from Brick Red leather... beside, if I paid well over 30K for that Subie, it better come with HID... but it doesn't :( SOA, are you listening?

Mazdaspeed6: I've seen the spec on the MS6 but haven't seen a comparsion between the LGT and MS6 yet. Besides, I don't know much about Mazda AWD system, any thoughts?

I am leaning towards the LGT Wagon AT... we'll see if it's still available when I'm done working with my Insurance company regarding my STi.

As for mazda, you will not find the MS6 in minnesota yet, i've already talked with the dealers. I've spoken with a couple salesmen that went to the mazda test track and drove them, they said absolutely no turbo lag. THEY said it would crush the wrx, which it probably could beat it, but definitely NOT the STi. As for their awd system, mazda starting making awd awhile back, just none of their newest cars have had it. Also, dont all of the LGT 5eat's come with autostick. Obviously not a stick, but you still will have some of the same fun as if it were a true stick.

i doubt mazda has symmertical AWD. so that car is prolly pretty front heavy, LGT all the way! that is such a cool car.

With just a reflash and downpipe you can be making more than 300 lb-ft easy in the GT. I was hearing somewhat reliable reports of 400 lb-ft with the Stage 2 reflash, downpipe, and exhaust. The 5MT in the GT must be a little different than the Impreza since it apparently holds up to abuse a lot better. You don't even need a clutch upgrade for those power levels.

I did drive the 5EAT and it was great for an auto, but the 5MT puts the power down a lot better.

And why are you paying more than $30k for one? Even new I bet you can get a better deal that that. There are HID conversion kits available for it but the projectors do just fine. The one thing that sucks about the new models is the nav package is only available on auto sedans.

I'm not much impressed with the Spec B either. I think the only performance upgrade is the suspension but you can get much better than that on a regular GT for the difference in price. The visuals I could care less about. If you're getting a wagon are you also considering the Outback XT? I love the lift on those and if the 2.5 turbo plant had been available in an Outback sedan I would have totally gone with one of those instead. Ground clearance is sexy 8)

MSRP for a Spec B is $33,995 with an invoice of $31,249 (Info via Edmund.com) and yes, I wouldn't buy a Subie for this price and not come away with HID from the factory. If the STi/STI has it stock, why not the Spec B? Even if the current halogen in the Legacy is good enough... I'd like HID at least to justify my $30K purchase hahaha. Honestly I've driven cars with and without HID... I'll take HID over halogen any day. The output of the light is just like night and day. IF I do end up getting the LGT for the $24K price, I do see a HID conversion for sure.

I do like the Outback XT but prefere to stick with the low stance look of a Legacy instead.

The 05 LGT Wagon I'm looking at has a year end price of $24k and that's what got me back into the LGT. Other than that... I was eyeing an 06 Toyota Avalon Touring at invoice, Yes, it's an old mans car but I'll be floshing 20" deep.

These are my other choices to replace my lost STi-

    $15-20k:
    Honda Civic
    Toyota Corolla/Matrix/*Yaris *not out yet
    Scion Tc

    $20-35k
Subaru: Legacy GT or an unsold 05 STi(HID) on the lot somewhere assuming the price has come down by now ;)
    Honda: Accord
    Nissan: Maxima(HID)
    Toyota: Avalon Touring(HID)
    Mazda: Mazdaspeed6(HID)

    **$35k-50k
    Audi: A6/S6 (used 2004)
    Acura: TL/RL
    BMW: 540i/M5 (used 2001-2003)
    Benz: C55/E55 (used 2003)
    Lexus: IS250/350 or GS300/450
    Infinit: M35/45

** These cars are just an option incase I do decided to go a bit high end with my purchase.

Heck, I might just forget about all these cars and get a dead beat car just to thrash around and save my money up for something in the coming years ;) Skyline/Z06/911 Carrera 4S/GT2 *cough *cough enough dreaming.

Back on topic though, I'm still itching for the LGT wagon...

There are also rumors of bringing the STi Legacy over here in the next couple years. You can be sure that I will be one of the first to own an STi Legacy if it ever does come over here.

I have an 05 Leg GT wagon 5spd and I would HIGHLY recommend it. This car replaced an 02 mustang gt and I don't miss the mustang at all, especially now that it has snowed.

I got mine back in late Aug for about 23k before TTL, it had 25 miles on it. I went through Bloomington Subaru, Scott Putnam and I would definitely recommend going through him. No hassles at all and I am very happy with the car. If you can find an auto wagon there I say go for it.

For more info check out www.legacygt.com there are tons of good posts there.

yamie700, the Bloomington dealer is where I found the 05 LGT Wagon with the AT. None of the 05 LGT Wagon left on the lot has MT...

Later on this afternoon I'm heading out to get my check from the Insurance company. I will stop by WBL Subie to see what else they have out there.

What else have you done to your LGT?

DON'T go to any other dealer to survey their lot for anything. Go online to Subaru and search the dealer inventory there. If you find one at any dealership in the metro (or even beyond) you can call up Scott at Bloomington and have him bring it over so you can buy it through him. I wouldn't buy from WBL ever again. Scott at Bloomington and then Chip at Morrie's BP are the only guy's in the Cities I'd ever purchase a Subaru from.

I'm sorry, I should have prefixed that post with "If you want to buy from Scott at Bloomington or Chip at Morrie's BP". Didn't mean for the post to come off like I was telling you how to shop for a car :D

I haven't done much to my legacy yet. I just got done installing digital boost and oil pressure gauges this weekend though. I got them through VEI systems via a group buy, they are sweet.

I plan to get a Cobb AP and eventually do an UP/DP and go stage 2. I have a license plate frame that says "You Just Got Beat by a Wagon 8) " and I think I will put that on as soon as I get to stage 1.

If you are serious about getting a legacy definitely go through Scott at Bloomington Subaru. I am VERY happy with my wagon.
