i tried Nabisco and Clubwrx, they most make aftermarket struts for them. I guess I only remember seeing really expensive ones.

that belongs to the kid in vegas that was sporting the grimmspeed shirt in the subiesport magazine

I think it looks stupid UNLESS it was actually used for real mudding.

Why don't you just look at the systems the SWRT uses?

I know that is the kid, I would like this for winter ... yeah I know I'm copying Subiedave's idea but I think it would be badass!

Prodrive (if you can find them) and Ohlins. That's your two options for fixed perch.

    Really depends on use/quality/etc...

If you're thinking coilovers, some questions you might consider asking are...

    1) Is there anything a set of coilovers could provide me that a strut/spring setup can't?
    2) Are the coilovers I'm looking at rebuildable?
    3) How much is a rebuild and how easy is it to get done?
    4) JDM or EDM valving/spring rates?

Personally, if I ever switch to coilovers on this car, I'll be skipping the budget and jdm choices and sticking to zzyzx EM, KW V3, RCE Tarmac2, or possibly TurnInConcept's AST re-release.

If you're really thinking about lifting an 05+ STI, good luck. Aside from taking a set of Forester struts and modifying the fronts, I don't think there are any affordable options (air ride y0). You could take the TiC AST's, set them all the way up, then get some custom length springs.
I'd imagine Forester springs are way too long to fit STi struts in case you were wondering.

So you're admitting you're a b1tch then! Good, at least you're a man enough to admit it!

We can both do it, I don't care. We share so many other things anyway..ya know  ;)

So from what I understand, that car is lifted with coilovers to sit that high? Is there any other option other than coilovers for that look? If I could find a cheap set of coilovers I would run it like that just for the winter, but spending a grand is pointless if the coilover is just going to be run in the winter, which is my plan and I assume Chet's since he is pretty much my brother from another mother.

the red car is on forester springs and agx's. your easiest route to attain that height is to run forester springs on whatever struts you want. I might recommend forester sti springs so you aren't that high (too high from a handling perspective. about 1" over stock is ideal imo)

most conventional coilovers will not let you get that high of a ride anyway as they are designed to lower the car. you need to look into rally specific coilovers like dms and hotbits. allwheelsdriven also makes some sweet set-ups for a reasonable price (~2k)

So running Forester springs on any struts will do..even stock? How high over stock does your car sit when you have your coilovers all the way up?

your 2nd post-- I really only want to run this height in the winter. So spending 2k is probably not going to work with the budget I have in mind.

I don't have coilovers anymore. i am on dspecs and stock sti springs - this set-up gives me plenty of clearance and handling at the same time. going as high as that red car will not handle all that nicely (wrc cars look that high becase of how their fenders are cut).

but yes, stock struts and forester springs will give you that look. imo, the fsti springs are a better choice though

oh yea, ground control sleeves are another option (you'll need to go to at least a 10" long spring in the 250/200 ish lb rates to achieve a decent lift)

umm, ground control? depending on what rates you want will dictate how long of springs you need so think about that for a while

(also, dirtyimpreza.com is where you should be for getting tips on lifting these things)

What are the spring rates on the forester sti springs?
