Guys, I have a new baby on the way and need something that can fit my wife, daughter, and golden retriever. Here's the specs on the car: 05 STi with ~37,000 miles. Good condition, but not perfect. Original tires on original rims, will throw in Dunlop Wintersports on Gunmetal Mille Miglia with full price offer. Car has moderate hail damage, needs PDR (for door dings too). - estimate was $1,500 but I'm sure you could get it done for under $1,000. Car is debadged, Hella Supertones installed, Front Grille emblem removed, SS brake lines. Professionally Road Tuned (open ECU) by Clark Turner the last time he was here. 30% tint on all windows. Bone stock exhaust, turbo, etc. I did install a typhoon intake for about 2 hours but took it off and sold it right away. Didn't like the sound, didn't notice a power increase. Factory short throw and boost gauge. Subaru all weather mats. Never had mechanical problems with this car. I did fight with the dealer to get the rear struts replaced under warranty. After the 3rd time they finally did. Will get pics up in a day or two. I will take the car to the mechanic of your choice (East Metro) for an inspection at your cost. eggggscrackly... I fit me, my wife and 3 kids...... july next year will present some issues when no 4 arrives but thats what the van is for....
Sorry, all I head was I'm p***ywhipped... can't find my balls... ... wife owns my ass. Enjoy the new family truckster.
Make the dog "disappear" and keep the car. I fit my wyf and my two kids still in car seats just fine in the back of my wagon. Or, put breather holes in the trunk for the dog.
The wife can't drive a stick, and you're supposed to put child seats in the middle - it's the safest position. Any way, I know you all hate to think of having to sell your WRX or STi when you have a family, but I can assure you that when the time comes, it will be something you're glad to do. I also had to drive a senator to the airport for my job last week. He appreciated the quick arrival, but road noise and stiff suspension were another issue. Here's some pics:
C'mon, now you're just making excuses! My wife didn't know how either...15 min in a parking lot and she was golden. Separately, why not replace her vehicle...or trade your STi for a 06/07 Wgn Ltd? The CEO of my company prefers riding in my 07 wagon over his S6 with the Lambo V10 on road trips...it rides smoother and equally quiet (stock muffler). Car seats - I have two little kids (1 & 3yo)...there's only one middle position. Don't let consumer advocates and haus fraus scare you into something. My only car regret ever was selling my 02 wgn to get a minivan instead of trading in the wyf's SUV. You can have your cake and eat it too! Trade that STi in for a 2.5L WRX wagon.
I am leaning towards a WRX wagon, but I'm not sure. Wife is getting a legacy so I don't know if I really want 2 wagons. If she wants something bigger, I'll take the wagon. Otherwise, I may go to something small but comfortable.
I have been a little curious as to the fact that safety groups/studies say the centre is the safe place for car seats but the car seat install info as well as Subaru says not to put the car seat in the centre (using the LATCH system, that is). Anyway, best of luck in this dilemma and more impportantly: Congrats!
