I was wondering if any of you run E85 in your cars. I have a stock 05 STI and I'm wondering what I would have to do in order to run E85. I'm more curiouse than anything. I'm pretty amazed at what I get for gas mileage with this car.

    Thanks in advance,

Bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump (Walbro 255), and a tune will do wonders. Keep in mind that your mileage will most likely go down though as E-85 uses roughly 30% more fuel.

Running e85 is going to make your mpg go down and torque go up. To switch you will need injectors, fuel pump, and a tune. Others will have more info but the best would be to talk to a tuner like Nuke, Ronnie@rsmotors, or bullwinkle. There are many people running e85 on the site. Here is some dyno runs of the NF performance cars running e85.

But you need to remember, that TQ ONLY goes up when you are pushing boost. Cruising the freeway, you are actually losing power. So unless you are always playing joe skreet racer, e85 really isn't a good option.

That is because off boost, you are running a low compression small displacement motor. And with the limited AFR and timing advance, you can only get so much out of e85 in cruise mode. Now, if the ecu would let you run a super lean afr or higher cruising timing, e85 at anything other than full boost might not be that bad.
