I love MOST of the car.... Just cannot get over those fugly tail-lights! Cool video to see a close look of the car though....
JDM. America is the only place to get the 2.5 turbo for some reasons. Its gotta stay at 2.0 because of the WRC. Someone care to elaborate more?
No, actually. Theirs is rated at 320 for 2008. We're still getting 300 from what I'm hearing. They're almost always equal tho.
i think we get a bit more torque with the 2.5 but that ej20 is much better than the ej20 we get here anyways...something to do with different cams
JDM STi's have always used the 2.0, so it's hard for a lot of USDMers to believe me that my ver5 STi is 2.0 too. The same people usually believe the first STi came out in 2004, when it actually came out way earlier than that, just in other parts of the world exclusively. They make the same or more power than the USDM 2.5 due to several reasons including more stock boost, different cams, higher redline, and more advanced timing. Ver 1-7 also had fully forged internals from the factory. Ver 8+ including the first USDM STi went with the "hyperweak" cast pistons  This is all possible because of one thing: JDM 98-100 ron gas is much better than the USDM gas we get here - it's equal to about 95-96 octane. My ver5 is definitely not making the same amount of power with local gas as it did when it was in japan because of this very reason. After a powerfc and tune though, it should be close.
^ some of them were. there were those limited edition legacy motors which were completle gone over by hand, blue printed ect.. (ej20 w/ gold valve covers), I am pretty sure that the EJ22G (22b) was pretty thoroughly designed too. Read that someone in canada did a comparision of 2.5l STi vs. V7 STi stock. 2.5l put out 230whp on the dyno, 2.0l sti put down 280whp. same dyno same day. the JDM 2.0ls are hella sweet. bigger cams from the factory FTW!
The 207s do match or exceed the 257s in peak hp, but torque is a bit lower - especially in the lower revs. The 257s have a more usable powerband that starts earlier. I do tend to prefer overall usuable powerband to a peaky powerband on the street, even if the peaky powerband ends up higher in the end. On a track, though, I usually prefer the opposite. That said, off boost, my 207 feels very much like a run-of-the-mill corolla or sentra or something, which isn't very awe inspiring
