Wondering if this is some thing i should be worried about. Engine shakes really bad at idle, even if i let it warm up for 10-15min. When it gets to the half temp mark, then it runs fine. Took the wife out to dinner tonight, when leaving, it was still running fine. Only started doing this when the temp is around 35 or less outside.

not sure what you mean by engine shake? just make sure when you drive it before it warms up to keep low RPMs until you get to the half temp mark. Do you park it outside? I know belts and pulleys make added noise when cold. Always check your oil often when it gets below freezing temperatures.

It should never shake enough for you to feel no matter the temperature outside

You have a misfire somewhere, try cleaning your Mass Air Flow sensor

The whole car shakes at a dead stop after i drive it. Almost like it's going to stall out but it doesn't. It only get's parked outside a few times a week. It was parked in the garage yesterday for about 7 hours and it still did it. I will check the MAF later on and see if that helps. If it was a MAF issue, wouldn't it be doing that all the time and throwing a CEL?

Is the issue all the time when it's cold, or when it is cold, it starts fine, idles ok in the drive way, you drive it a bit pull up to a stop, and the car drops to low rpms, (500-600) and idles a bit rough, and feels like to is going to quit. Kind of like a small stumble.
If it is as I described, just keep on driving, nothing to worry about. Mine has done this since new, and if you can make the search engine work, (I never have good luck) there is probably a thread around here about it, and maybe one on NASIOC.

Well, i did find this below. Sounds like it is the same issue. Pulled this off of a website that had 07-09 Legacy GT's with similar issue. If this is the way it is supposed to be, i will leave it alone. But, i did buy a 4 year extended warranty so is it worth not knowing and leaving it like that to cause future problems or possibly bring it in and get it fixed under warranty.

This is caused by the orange o-ring type gaskets that sit between the plastic intake manifold and the tumbler valves (TGV) that have constricted due to cold temps. They shrink to the point of causing a gap where air will flow into the TGV and into the combustion chamber causing non-metered air to aid in combustion, since it's non-metered, the ECU will not add fuel to accompany that air, therefore the engine will run lean and misfire. Once the TGV aluminum warms from the engine heat, the gaskets soften and seal the area, causing an air tight seal again eliminating the gap and resuming smooth idle and operation.

I found this thread on NASIOC:

    http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2299482

My '08 also has the issue. I read the thread and called Minnetonka Subaru. The service guy spoke with a tech and confirmed that plastic manifolds on these cars will have that issue. The fix, according to the NASIOC thread was to replace the 08 gasket with the 09+ gasket. If were to have this done it would have to be out of pocket. Even though I have the extended warranty, they said it would not be covered since the gaskets technically have not failed. I agree with that answer to a certain extent. However, it seems that the gasket was not designed properly, causing the car to run lean and misfire. I have contacted SOA to see what they say.

Awesome, Thanks. Mine is sitting at the dealer right now til monday. If they still can't find the problem even after i told them about the Legacy gaskets, prolly just tell them to replace the gaskets with the thicker ones and see what happens.

Still doing it after the dealer said there was nothing wrong. Still hesitant on replacing the o-rings in case that will void the warranty.

double check with the dealer on the warranty. im sure itll be fine.

Is this a common issue with 08's? I have not experienced anything quite like that. Been running a little rough when it fires up but thats because its darn cold out!

Hope your issue resolves itself, or you find out what it is and it is covered. ;)

Apparently this is a common issue with the 08s built pre 10/07 as they used the older legacy gasket. The 08s built after 10/07 used a thicker gasket.

I'm assuming this is why there are two part numbers:
    14035AA491- superseded by 14035AA492
    14035AA492

Well, there is 8 pages of it about the o-rings on nasioc and Subaru putting in the 07 gaskets in some of the 08 models. Only solution with out doing anything after leaving it at the dealer for 2 days is leaving it sit for 15min or longer, then it runs fine so far from what i have noticed.
