I realized I made the sno*drift thread a little too close to the event so I thought I'd get a jump on 100AW (even this is a bit late) in case anyone was planning on going. 100AW is Feb 26-27 in Salem, MO. This is the 2nd round of only 6 Rally America championship events. After this, your next closest chance to see Ken Block in the fiesta or Pastrana or Mirra will be in PA. Don't worry, you can see Siegler/Goodman anytime  http://www.rally-america.com/events/2010/100AW/ http://www.100aw.org/
bump, we're off to sno*drift in 7 days 18 hours! - it's probably too late to find any lodging for that rally but you might be able to find something for 100AW still (in surrounding towns).
it looks like we will have excess service crew for this race. We may even have andrew back from MA to crew!
3 weeks from today we'll be packing up a heading to 100 Acre Wood. Zomg I'm excited!!!! I'ev never had this much fun sitting bitch!
100AW really isn't that far from MN. It's a shorter drive than we made to sno*drift and it isn't that much farther than going to canada.
trying... we looked at some and they are all full in town. so we are looking at some about 1/2 hour away from town.
If you're towing a rally car with a stack of 12 tires 10' in the air, 10 hrs. g/l finding lodging - it was mostly full when we called several weeks before sno*drift
most sites say just under 10 hrs. I think there are two salem's in MO - one of them is only like 6 hours away (going off mapquest). The times google maps has are wrong
And for anyone who is going to this rally and has been there before, please let us know where the good spectator locations are for this year!? I would hate to go to a "lame" location and not be able to see some good racing. Thanks...
^ I bet you will have good spectating at any spectator point. I had a great time and I was just in the service area ;-)
I will be there, staying in Rolla about 45 mins north of Salem. Let me know if you think you will need any extra help
It is going to be me and my girlyfriend and for right now just planning on spectating unless you need a hand or some volunteer opportunity comes up
they always, always, always need volunteers. my recommendation for a first timer is to marshal - asked to be paired with an experienced volunteer if you want. You'll get the best seats in the house. http://www.100aw.org/workers_info.html
Me and a buddy of mine Jake will be staying in Rolla also. What part of town or what hotel are you planning on staying in?
we're off to a great start to our 2010 100AW trip. Andrew flew in from MA to help out - we rewarded him by tearing the exhaust off the car loading it onto the trailer. Every single attachment point bent or tore off and the flange between the mid pipe and downpipe became less than flat. not ideal
Carl and Dave took 4th overall and 2nd in class for yesterdays regional results. Nice job guys, keep it up. Results http://www.rally-america.com/events/2010/TPW/results/
We finished 2nd ic and 3rd oa yesterday (not 4th oa, based on the results sheets they had printed for us at awards). We dnf'd after stage 11 when we blew a hole in the header and started the car on fire. Pouring straight 105 octane through a red hot manifold isn't good. No real damage though thanks to fast acting on our part. Up to then we were running 4th ic 4th oa. More to come when we get home, at awards ceremony now
did you pull the suppression system? or hand extinguish? or watch it burn? soooo not enough aluminum tape to control under hood temps?
Cool pics....Hardly any snow on the ground?....looks like summer. hmmm However, its funny that this particular rally has always been Block's Rally despite Travis mech probs. BTW Travis had a camera mounted on top his car...that's Bananas! Lets see what the outcomes will be. What a bummer for ZRT!!!!....Rally is a very unpredictable sport... but fun.
You know, we don't even mind what happened. We had an incredibly good race up to the end and we didn't really damage anything. We have a lot of improvements in mind for the car in the next 2 months. regionals are actually 2 races so taking 3rd overall and 2nd in open in the first race was awesome (edit, to clarify the results show us 4th oa but that's with duplessis ahead of us who is dual entered national/regional - the results they gave us at awards had us 3rd). We would have finished about the same on saturday. At the super special when we looked at the posted scores we were just a bit behind the last ditch racing team and had an ok lead on greenhouse (talking to him he was in full out max attack trying to get catch us but wasn't sure if he would, but then he did one stage later lol). These roads really suit our car and my driving style, can't wait for next year. Posting from the rolla dennys. Rally grand slam!
Awesome job, guys! Glad you're keeping your heads up and don't consider this a setback at all!
also congrats to mason moyle and scott putnam for putting down some good stage times! Mason, Dustin Kasten and I had a good battle going all weekend until we had to retire. We had a slight lead after friday's stages but mason was putting down better times saturday and would have probably caught us even if we had finished.
