Welp, I am once again a proud Subaru owner. After selling my STI last fall for a pickup, I very much missed having a Subaru. The truck was a needed purchase for house work but living right next to i35, hearing the unmistakable boxer roobles, presented a constant reminder of how much I loved owning a Subaru. Thus, I left MN last Thursday in a Hertz Nissan Cube and drove down to San Antonio, TX with the wifey and pup. Picked up an '02 bugeye and made it back home by 9:00 p.m. Saturday, just before the storm rolled in. Notes on the drive: Texas is far, really far. Texas is hot, not Las Vegas dry heat hot either, humid, nasty, hot. I love having roobles and all but with a 20hr drive, not so much. Never again will I drive that far, in such little time, ever. I picked up my last STI from Missouri, flew down, drove eight hours back and it was pancakes. I severely underestimated the twenty hour drive down and twenty hour drive up. The PO had a very aggressive rear stance setup so the tires took quite a thrashing on the ride home. E85 is not nearly as plentiful in the South as it is in the Midwest and even with the on-board fuel tank and a spare five gallon in the trunk, things got pretty dicey. Filling up for $1.87/gal is pretty nice though. Mod list as follows: Couple of pics I took yesterday: Glad to be officially back and part of the Subaru community.
Wow, really nice looking car. I would love to hear the cutout in person What kind of mileage did you average on the trip back?
B-E-A-Utiful!!! Nice ride Doug, it was worth the drive. What kind of power is this thing putting down?
such a nice looking car! ill keep an eye out for this in burnsville since im there everyday for work.
Thanks for the compliments guys. As for power, dyno is here Avg mpg on the way home was actually not as bad as I thought. PO told me to anticipate 15-17mpg and I teetered between 17-18 driving conservatively. The cutout is stupid loud. The HKS compared to my old Cobb TBE is quite noisy. Roobles +++
That is a very nice pick up man. I think the drive was justifiable! At least I would have not given it a second thought if I was looking for one and had the cash. I’ll keep an eye out for you in town, would love to see it in person.
someone pls make my wrx look like that!!! mine looks so plain campare to that, couldn't even tell that that was a 02 wrx just by looking at the engine! nice!
Thanks guys! Here is another pic I took the other day Thanks Sheen! Yes, yes, you and many others were right, I was wrong I guess I didn't realize what I was giving up. Never again! A couple of your pm'd me asking about the 35r. It's surprisingly not as laggy as I thought it would be. Toughest part for me is shifting quickly enough to reduce lag. Now all this car needs is driver mod :eek3:
