I spent a long time on NASIOC and the simple answers were contested enough to not be helpful, so maybe someone here has some experience that could shed some light. Prodrive 17x8 +40 offset Will these fit on an 02 WRX Wagon (w/o having to roll fenders or do a bunch of other hassley stuff)? They are JDM wheels that came off a JDM GF8 Wagon. Thanks!
I believe that those wheels are a little too much away from stock. They will most likely fit, but then it all depends on the size of tire. Get a limited sidewall tire and you might be alright. I have +48 on my02 wagon and i'm fine, but I think you may run into a little bit of mechanical problems due to such an offset. Like the hubs going bad quickly er something. I'm not positive though, so I could be wrong. I wouldn't choose that offset, but that's just me.
No tires atm, so whatever research (aka: ya'll) tell me. I was guessing they wouldn't work, but a buddy of mine has them so the price is right and since they came off a wagon I figured it was worth checking. Oh, I forgot to mention the model before (if it matters). They are the Prodrive GC-05a's. And the suspension is completely stock. Brakes are stock except for EBC rotors and Greenstuff Pads.
^ GC-05s are the hawtest wheels EVER!!!!! If it were me I would get the wheel and make them fit. Prodrive had them made for a subaru application so they cant be horrible on the hubs/bearing/whatever. I know there are a few fender rollers flowing around the club. I know Colin has one and he is pretty skilled w/ it. roll the fenders!!!!! Prodrive GC-05 (F?)
GC-05a not f. The bit of info I have found says these are not forged like the GC-05f's are. Too bad, I was REALLY excited when I thought they were the f's. Even so, I think I may just follow your advise. Worst case I have a set of wheels to trade, right?
offset is pretty aggressive...u'd want somewhere around 45+ 48-53 would be ideal...your stance will be flaring out
^yuppers...Roll fenders can get ugly if you don't know what your doing. I ended up cutting mine for a cleaner finish and repaint
I need to roll my rear fenders a little.... 245/35/19s rub under heavy corners..... Oh and eventually I want to slam mine more so....
Bad Juju on the rubbing and wheel bearing front. A +40 is just too far out there, look for something in a +50-53mm, then you'll be able to run a 225/45/17 without rubbing.
Careful with the recommendations, guys. These are not 7 or 7.5" wheels. ...a 53 offset will likely rub the strut (but I cannot confirm).
