Will 18 x 8.5 rims fit without having to roll fenders on my 09?

I intend to get Epic Engineering springs to lower it slightly. From what I understand these springs only lower the rear about .7" and front 1" and they're also matched decently for the stock struts(according to a lot of info on NASIOC).

If this has been covered, I apologize. I searched for a little while and came up with nothing.

I like the look of an 8.5. I'm not a huge fan of the stockers on it. I have winter tires on them right now(came on the car). The guy who traded my car in has a set of summer tires for it. They're supposed to go with the car, but he hasn't dropped them off at the dealer for me to pick up yet. Starting to wonder if it's ever going to happen(3 weeks since I bought it now). The dealer promised i'd have them. :(

I suppose tire size would help. I was planning on getting 225 40R18s.

With an 8.5 225 will probably be fine but the correct tire size for it would be 235 on a 8.5"-9" wheel. You also won't have any problems with them rubbing depending on your wheel offset.

Throw some 245-40's on it. Bring it out to DCTC and dodge some cones.

255+ throw some meats on it , (from what i have read) there is considerably more fender room on the new chassis

    18x10, ball harder.

The wheels i'm looking at have a 45mm offset. When i was checking out tire sizes, 225 was the only option they gave for the rims whether they were 8 or 8.5. I'll look into 235s and 245s. Thanks for the info.

18x10 is pushing the limits isn't it? I thought 9s were really pushing it? I had 20x12s on my hummer, those tires were expensive enough, I don't even want to think what a low profile 18x10 tire would be.

Is this a 2009 WRX or STI? That will make a big difference in fender room, as the WRX didn't get the wider bodywork until the 2011MY.

The other question is how wide do you get before you're harming the performance on the car? I've seen a few of the newer STI/WRX models with 275 and 285 series tires that I have to wondering if they're adding to the actual performance or just adding additional unsprung weight for a slightly larger contact patch.

    WRX. I'm not looking to go really wide. I just like a little wider tire/rim(8 - 8.5 - 9).

Ok, here's a little question. If I were to get 245/40/18s, the tread would be roughly 9.6 inches wide shoulder to shoulder correct? 40% ratio would be 3.8 inches. Am I correct to assume the sidewall would be about 1.9 inches tall? Or is there something else you have to factor in?

I Like to keep a stock diameter to make sure the speedometer is correct. But I went to a 235 wide tire and it only changed the speedo 1 mph. Best I can tell, they are 1 mph slow anyways. So I think its reading correctly now.

Thanks for that calculator. I've actually changed my mind on the wheels I wanted. They only come in 7.5" width, so i'll be going with a 225 40 18.

A buddy had 18x9 (255) with a ET+29 and we had to roll the rears. So if you were getting an ET of 48 +/- you should be ok.

Probably a pain, but im willing to put the time into it if I get them. After checking out your thread about your car, where can I find SPT parts? I know the dealer can get them, just wondering if I can search somewhere online and find some prices.
