Damn, super rare car. Its a shame to part it out. I'd post on the USMB (Ultimate Subaru Message Board).
Hmm, I'd LOVE to have that car, and if it's free I'd love to come get it...but I dont' think another project car is a good idea... I really want to put a eg33 in that exact body style...
yeah its a 5 speed.............not up to me, up to the gf and she is rippin the thing apart right now so i'm guessin that means it all needs to go!! So parts for sale, who's interested???
+1,000 an enormous shame to part out. let me know if there's any way to get paperwork to sell as a working car. I'd be seriously interested in EJ-swapping it and reselling (assuming the frame rails are solid). or maybe even EJ-swapping, lifting, and keeping..... if you do part it out. I'd be interested in front bumper/fenders/hood/a door or 2 (depending on condition), seats, possibly other interior bits, and rear suspension (trailing arms, brakes, hubs). TCat55371 would probably be interested in the motor, I know he's been having pretty bad luck with his EA82ts. what trans? being an '85 it's probably part-time 4WD. dual range? probably, as I don't see the single-range vacuum solenoids. fat chance, but, rear LSD? mmmm......H-alloys. too bad I don't have any 4x140 cars (of course, if I did, I wouldn't have passed on the last "H"s I had) Martin, it's an '85, so it'll have the deeper DOJ cups on both ends of the rear axles that you could use on your brat. EDIT: no, EA81s have 2-bolt tophats, EA82s have 3.
yeah. For some reason I think my Brat has only two top hat bolts, while it looks like your GL10 has 3. EDIT: What would you want for the rear axles? and perhaps the diff if its a LSD.
if it's still working (i.e. test BEFORE you start ripping stuff apart), the air suspension bits might fetch some $$$ (not from me though, I hate the crap!). also: www.ultimatesubaru.org www.subaruxt.com
I have boxed up brand new front/rear bumpers and both side fenders... Throw me an offer.... ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED IN ANY PARTS GIVE ME A CALL SO WE CAN FIGURE SOMETHING OUT....You can come and look at everything! 6512702908
To answer everyone else....seriously just give me a call/throw me an offer on anything you are interested... Me and the girl already started rippin it apart...........if someone is seriously interested, we could put it back together..... JUST CALL ME RIGHT NOW
ALRIGHT....after talking with Chux the ripping apart is on hold right now....just going camera crazy and takin a bunch of pictures for everyone....will post asap
put it back together!!! dont kill a rare one! you will find someone to take the whole thing off your hands. file for a lost title or whatever you have to do. go talk to the dmv and have the lady you got it from write you a letter stating she gave it to you and if there is any way to title it to allow you to do so. i sense bad karma from killing a perfectly good running and functioning rare subaru.
just a quick FYI on why this is such a neat car. the first subaru WRC car to receive a podium finish, was an '86 sedan, VERY similar to what you have there:
Hey there, this is the girlfriend speaking.......my laptop is slow as poop so its takin forever to get the pictures/videos loadin onto it but we will post everything as soon as we can.....Mike is puttin most of the hoses and such back together just in case....keep us informed on anything we could possible need to know or parts/stuff you are interested in!!!!! Thanks for the insight on the rare Subi Chux!!! Hell, we are def kickin ourselves for not doing more research before we started tearin her apart.....it was mostly so I could learn how to get a motor out, but hell after all this......I mean damn, def not worth it!! haha......so just be patient, pics will be up asap!
don't sweat it. tearing a car apart is the best way to learn about how it works. not your fault you happened across an awesome example of a very rare bird
Motor If you do end up parting it down the road let me know what you want for the motor. I dont need it right now, both cars are running and parted for the winter. Just something to think about. Have to pay on my taxes so I'm in no hurry. Hope someone takes it off your hands. My first Subaru was the samething. Put some tall tires on it and it went thru snow like crazy. Thats the car that got me hooked on Scoobys. Problem is the front frame rails rot away, mine were bad when I got it and i drove it 2 winters before I junked it. Good luck with it. (hey, next time I need a motor pulled I'll have you two do it and learn and I will drink beer) lol
well i have to get the paper work on this deal im goin to the dmv today to see what i can do...i will let you all know
HOLY ISH!!! Awesome car. I'd kill someone for those seats alone. I should get this and swap my entire WRX into it. So awesome!
so i went down to the dmv and talk to a family friend and she said that i just have to write a certifide letter to the state and then bring the letter back to the dmv to close out he old title and i can get the title back in my name and get a clear title so i will be doin that ...
sweetness. stay in touch as you find out what things cost. I am seriously interested in buying/swapping it. although to rear wheel wells do look pretty ugly. and definitely a lot of surface rust underneath it, as I suspected, the undercoating is flaking off. what kind of mileage does it have? I circled the frame rail were rust is the biggest problem. this is were I'm most concerned. too much rust there is a deal-breaker as far as I'm concerned.
