I'm selling my '92 Subaru Legacy Wagon 4WD Turbo for $2,000 OBO. Car has 104,000 miles. Sunroof, automatic seat belts, heat and AC both work. Minimal rust for an old car. Car starts acting up in the winter; when driving on the highway RPM will shoot up to 4 or 5 when I'm going a steady speed and won't accelerate. I have brought it in to multiple mechanics and they can never find anything wrong. Then come spring, it drives like normal. New battery in Feb. 2018, new front brake rotors/pads and front tires in Nov. 2016.
Probably because most have been crushed by now. Or have returned to the inevitable, natural state of iron oxide.
I want this... but I also think I know what is wrong with it... If the trans temp becomes too cold (or looks that way to the transmission computer) it will downshift and unlock the torque converter to bring the temp back up. It usually only happens in subzero weather. I would substitute a resister for the transmission temperature sensor as a test.
I think you’re right. Too bad though. After we moved we founded a little local group called great lakes rumble society on FB. It’s fill of nonsense and members of all ages. But what’s cool is the willingness everyone has to help. On that note, a member offered his heated shop and lift to do monthly clinics to teach others how to “Subaru”. I loved the idea, we just needed a busted Subaru and we’ve been looking for a vehicle ever since. Considering the prerequisites (blown up, needs headgasket, rusty as heck) you’d think we would’ve found one. I thought this wagon might be perfect but then I was “ghosted”
