The basics. 1996 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 (305/5.0L) Regular cab/Long box 234,xxx Let me start by saying that in a perfect world, I would trade this for either a complete wrecked WRX, or WRX running gear. Or anything pertaining to a WRX swapped BD Legacy. It's never left me stranded in the 3 years I've owned it. I bought it off an old co-worker who had it for several years and he maintained it well; and it shows. The only thing I have had to do other than basic maintenance is replace a power steering line. That was only to mend an very manageable, but annoying P/S fluid leak. Which, I must disclaim that after replacing one hose, I found that it DOES drip ever so slightly from another spot. It drips so slow that I haven't even bothered with it. The chassis has 234,xxx, however the engine runs WAY to good to have that many miles on it. I'm pretty sure at some point the engine was replaced. The only thing I can really say I don't like about this truck is the fact that it's only a 305. I've driven Silverado's with the 5.7 and there is a slight difference in pulling power, but if I can tow a 3,400 pound car on top of a big heavy flatbed trailer without any issues; I don't think you'd be disappointed. I've never had to replace anything mechanical on the engine. Now, the previous owner had transmission issues, but he had the transmission and rear diff rebuilt. I DO have paperwork for this. Since under my ownership I have towed about 5 cars a distance of 60 miles or more, moved three times and pulled a small fishing boat with it. Never, in any of those instances has it ever given me issues. Transfer case works as it should, 2H/4H/4L are ALL operable and usable. Whatever drivetrain problem the previous owner had, he took care of it. The tires (General Grabber AT2 285/75/16) are newer. By newer I mean they have less than 4,000 miles on them. They're fantastic tires too. They're quiet on the highway, but are aggressive enough to have fun off-road. Electrically it is 90% perfect. The only things you need to be aware of is the driver's door lock sometimes sticks, the dome light mysteriously stopped working (Probably a bulb since it was really dim leading up to it's demise), and the blower motor is quite vocal. DON'T be scared about the locks. It has ALWAYS locked and unlocked, but when you're getting out and you hit the door lock button the piece that you move to lock it manually will stick. Just push it down and it will lock. The last thing is the blower motor squeals just for a second when it starts up, but goes away in a few seconds. It's not the quietest thing in the world, but it blows heat well enough, and it doesn't constantly squeal so I haven't fixed it. Power windows work as should, from both door. At the moment it has a cracked windshield, but that will be getting replaced in the next few weeks. There are some rust spots, which I will document and post on here come daylight today (3/8/13). But the cab has no icky corner rust. **I am getting too tired to finish this so I will upload one picture for now and will update with more pictures and information tomorrow. Thanks for looking! Hope to hear from you soon.** **VIN will be posted tomorrow as well** -Jason 507.382.7518 $3,300/obo Or trade for crashed WRX or WRX parts (I need an engine and transmission/rear diff)
Dammit. Sorry mods. Would you be so kind to move this to the correct section? I guess I'm more tired than I thought. Thanks!
