Taking any offer on my 1997 Impreza Outback Sport Wagon. 199,xxx miles EJ22 swapped in by previous owner; very well done... you'd never notice if someone didn't tell you (or you looked at the block stamp =) He really did a great job on it; I'm impressed. Brand new: timing belt, pulleys, tensioner, water pump, thermostat, front cam seals. None of these parts actually broke; I just replaced them for good maintenance this summer. Put in a new radiator and hoses last winter. Actually spent $300 on an OEM Subaru radiator because it was my daily driver and I didn't want to ever have to do it again. Those cheap copper ones just don't last as long. Also last year I put in a new axle on the right, front, side. Starts right up and runs solid. I've been using it as my daily driver for 2 years... 70miles a day with only a few minor issues here and there that I fixed immediately. Power windows, power mirrors, power locks, cruise control all work fine. AC is still cold and works great! I rarely use it but when I do it's nice =) Transmission is hosed. Squirts fluid out of the right vent hose. From my research I've found that this is typically due to the seal between the front diff and the rest of the tranny causing the pressurized AT fluid to squirt out of the vent hose. Best bet is to just swap in a used tranny; good candidate for a 5MT or other manual tranny conversion! Or if you had time you could easily part it out for way more than you pay for it! Like I said; the radiator is OEM Subaru and almost new, engine is solid and could be sold, new water pump on it, timing belt tensioner is brand new and those things go for $150 from Subaru... plenty of other good parts to sell off it. I have a few spare parts to go with it that I never ended up putting on: Full set of good timing belt covers including rubber gaskets. Seals for valve covers. Couple of spare Mass Airflow Sensors. Normally I'd just fix it myself but I'm trying to finish my town home and move out ASAP so I don't have time to screw around with fixing it. I just need it gone so make an offer and take it home. It still drives just fine; you could drive it home if you keep the AT fluid and gear lube topped off. I can send you off with a bottle of each to make sure you get home. Just thought I'd offer on here before I send it to the junkyard. Hate to see it go to the bone yard but frankly I don't have time to mess around with this thing... it just has to go.
hows the body? got any pics? location? my brother wants an OBS, so this may be perfect, as long as he would be willing to pay for a trans.
if i wasnt about to welcome my kid into the world any day now i would get this thing back!! here are a couple pics from when i had the car, keep in mind this was over 2 yrs and 60k plus miles ago.
Thx for the pics... body is more rough now but still fair... all fixable if someone had the time; I just never had the time. It has black steel rims on it now. Chubbz is planning on picking it up tonight. I'll update this thread as things develop. Thx
PM if he doesn't pick it up. I have tonight and tomorrow night free and i am 100% interested in this. Thanks
I made it home just fine! Didn't really seem to use any fluid, I looked at the place it had been leaking after about 50 miles and it was still dry... Got about another 50 and checked again and it was alittle damp... But it ran like a champ! Thank you Morgan for the sale... I am really excited to have it!!! P.s. Your primus cd was in the cd player....lol, it's a good mix... If u want it back u can have it! Lol
my 95 legacy had a similar problem. it would only do it in warmer weather when i drove the car hard or on i-94 for an extended period of time. just driving down around town or short trips on the highway (under 45 min.) or at lower speeds and less agressive driving it really wouldnt do it.
Congrats on the purchase, if you need a tranny I have a new 5mt 96MY for sale along with rear diff. Ben
