1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee - 4WD

Hi Everyone,

Putting my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee up for sale, asking $1,200 obo. My family’s owned it since my Dad bought it brand new. Its been a tank ever since, and one I’ll miss.

The past 10 years or so I've used it for hauling large stuff around either at our family cabin or here in Stillwater. Except for the past 6 months it has been garaged all its life. It starts and idles great, just selling it as it needs some work (see below) to get it driving again that I just don’t have time to do myself anymore as a Dad.

• 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited
• 5.2L V8 – 4WD
• 199,485 miles
• Automatic Transmission
• Clean Title in hand

The Good:

• Tires in excellent condition
  • Continental Cross-Contacts ($580 new)
  • Only 1,800 miles on them. Installed in October 2018 by Stillwater Discount Tire
  • Receipt and Warranty Paperwork included with sale
• New AAA Battery : Just replaced December 2020
  • Receipt & Warranty Paperwork included with sale
• Leather Interior in good condition
  • Drivers seat center stitching does need to be redone
• Factory Sun Roof
• Limited package includes upgraded Infinity sound system
• No accidents aside from a family member (not me!) backing into a post a few years back (see below)
• Working cassette deck goodness

Included Accessories:

• Block Heater
• Spare Tire and Cover
• 2” Hitch and Trailer Wiring Adapter
• Cargo Nets

Needs Work:

• Rust typical of an older Jeep (Tailgate, Rocker Panels, Exhaust, Under-body)
• Family member backed into a post a few years ago so rear bumper is unpainted, black.
• Right Front Wheel bearing or Brake Caliper is seized
• Tailgate Dampers need to be replaced (Tailgate won’t stay up on its own)
• ABS Dash light is on
• A/C isn’t very cold (blower fan works great though)
• Radio reception isn’t great but strong broadcast stations (like 92.5 - KQRS) come through
• Exhaust Leak, piping is rusty
• Engine & Transmission occasionally either hick-ups when accelerating from a stop/low-speed or has trouble shifting, temporarily, between gears.
  • Various theories on the internet. But repairing/replacing the exhaust, and replacing the transmission sensors & solenoids + flushing the transmission fluid + replacing the transmission filter is where I'd start (youtube.com/watch?v=4h8wLL1-91I)

On a serious note, I'll offer up a finders fee of a $100 if you help me find someone and it sells for $1000 or more. $50 to you if it sells for less than that.
