Just wonder how does an audi a4 compair to 2.0 wrx performance wise? My parents are thinking about getting our friends 200X something a4 with like 20k for super cheap like 13-14k.
i hear they are extremely reliable. but what are you asking? if it's for your parents what does performance matter? they're not fast, they handle fairly decent, they drive really smooth.
what he's saying is that its a 2000 something A4 with 20,000 miles for $13,000 - $14,000. took me a little bit to figure that out.
yeah sorry, I am typing on my iPhone. I try to abriviate a lot. I think the car is like 02 or an 04 its the genration before the newest one I think.
Unless they like spending allot of money on there cars I would tell them to pass. Audi's and VW's are extremely unreliable and costly to maintain. I know this from personal experience of my dad owning one and dealing with them at my shop all day. Performance wise a 2.0 wrx is faster then the a4. 1.8t's are turds and so are the 2.8's.
super cheap for a mint 2004 audi a4 with all the options like heated rear leather seats. And only 20k miles. I know that car is in almost brand new condition. So 14k is very very cheap.
my roomie has an 05 a4 quattro...its fun to drive but if it only has 20k on it and they only want 14k for it theres gotta be something wrong
Maybe we should price out some of this work Oil pump gets plugged $1000 Cam adjuster seals leak $400 40K maintenance $380 Timing belt due at 80K $690 PCV system update $500 Coils fail $380 CV boots $300 per front boot Rear axle seal leak $340 Per seal Oh and wait till the waste gate foot falls off the turbo. I can keep going if you like. And these are all common problems.
as performance wide, the Audi 1.8T and A4 V6 sucks like hell compared to a Wrx. A 90 toyota corolla automatic will accellerate faster then an A4 1.8T 5spd. I've driven an 1.8T b4 and tried to push it on accellerattion, only good thing is 1st gear. After that, pulls like a 4cylinder in a F150. The S4 is about the same as the WRX. More HP/torque but also, its a lot heavier too. I only like the smooth ride quality of Audi's.
remember this is back in Russia... so being made over that side of the world... repairs amy be cheaper...
They have a hybrid gs450h right now. They want to get a car here so they dont have to rent one all the time. Or i could drive them around in a more conformable car. Our friends want to buy an infinity g35 and want to sell this one and they will sell it for cheap to us. My parents will only come here a few times a week for couple weeks. So most of the time the car will just sit in a garage or i could drive it ones in a while if i pay insurance on it.
Ahhh so it will be here in the states... then the Audi will still be expensive to fix. Although if your rents don't care about the price that would be a great car!
It wont break that much. If it is stock it shouldn't be to bad. Its just when they do break they tend to cost a lot to fix. You can ether get luck or not. Like with all cars.
Have you owned an Audi? It is costly to maintain. I work on my Dad's A4 way more then I ever do on the subaru. But hey if you have to have one let me know. I will keep it running good for you. At my shop we love those things. They are the cash cows.
That list I posted earlier is common problems. Why do you think I know the parts and labor price off the top of my head. Cause I see them all the time. Also I could continue with the list if you like.
