    Just throwing this out there.
We have a 01 Outback with a SOHC 2.5 that came in for leaking head gaskets. Pulled the heads and sent them to the machine shop. Had them pressure checked and shaved. Reinstalled with new turbo oem gaskets from the dealer. Vehicle still gets hydrocarbons in the coolant. We pulled the heads and inspected. No problems found. We then reinstalled them and still over heats and gets hydrocarbons in the coolant. I am kind of at a loss. Has anyone seen the blocks crack on these engines?

because its a beefier gasket, we have hundreds of them on the road right now without issue

Second that. I just buy the gaskets from the dealer and have zero problems.........Except for this one.

Unsure. But the heads were not even that warped. After talking to Erik I think the block is cracked. So either way it needs a motor.
