Okay, slowly starting to look into acquiring somethings to get a little more get ups' and gos'... From talking with people and doing some research, it looks like I will be needing: 16g, VF39 only if no wastegate crack, VF 48 maybe? Looks like all that is left now is the turboz! Which will happen in the summah unless I can come across a steal of a deal!
You'll need a clutch, and I'd save for a better trans/ppg gearset with those numbers, unless you shift like an old lady and double clutch everything.
Really? I was hoping a bench mark of 300 would keep me under the needing a new clutch/2nd gear right away... ugh, this is going to get expensive isnt it
Powaz Install the invidia bellmouth DP, get a 3" cat back with some rubblze, get a bullwinkle tune=mo powa Save dollars for larger turbo of choice and sti intercooler, install, bullwinkle tune=even mo powa :wavey:
i would have to disagree (for the most part) here I have been on 330 AWHP for months with no problems on my clutch or trans... no double clutching, or "granny shifting". I just pay attention to how i drive and how i shift. As far as the OP. In my experience and opinion you would not NEED a header or TGV deletes for 300 whp And you might have a little trouble getting there with a 16g..
I think a more import question is you want 300whp from which dyno? Let's face it, we all know that MAP dyno numbers run high and RS numbers run a bit lower. Personally I do my dyno'ing at RS. Always have and as long as Ron's around I always will. Producing 300whp on that thing will take a bit of go. Just to let you know, Scuba steve's '04 wrx with almost the same setup as you're talking about only produced 259whp on RS's dyno.
.....And you've also got an "RA" gearset in your car with is stronger than the OP's bugeye trans. So kindly STFU. YES, SARCASM!!!!! Also, yes. 300 on which dyno? If you tune for 300 WHP on RS's dyno on a 90 degree day, you will in fact have PLENTY of power to kill your transmission on a -10 degree day.
Yeah, I guess my research looked like 300 was do-able with a 16g... So, more of a 275ish then with a set up like this? I just want reliabillty outta this. But some more rubblez and some 'put me in my seat' from time to time would be appreciated... Paul, I have kind of based off of our original talks... Maybe 300 was too high than what I found on das interwebz ^What more would need/upgraded to hit 275ish off of his setup?
all im trying to say is, its all in how you drive it... but thanks for the kind words. Honestly to the OP, when i was building my car... when i started i had a number in mind that i wanted to hit, but the more i looked around at other set ups and things, and continued working on my car til it was done. in the end i said screw it to a number and just went with the set up that i wanted.... what im trying to say is.... dont make a "WHP number" a goal... make it a goal to do the things you want and you will be happier in the end.
A 16g could possibly do that with TVG's, headers, a quality intake, a good P&P job, and an aggressive tune. Or meth or E85. Or you could dyno your car in the winter when ambient temp is around 60-70 in the shop. An EVO 3 16g might be able to get close on pump. An 18g should do ~285 in 80 degree weather. Number goals are stupid. A 16'd 2.0L WRX will be a ton of fun.
THIS is much more important. Numbers are just numbers. Build yourself a fun car, and have fun with it.
For a good balanced 2.0L DD I'd reccomend: 16g or VF39 Injectors TBE 3-port BCS Tune That will get you a very strong powerband all the way from 4k to redline. And honestly, the powerband is what you should be concerned about, assuming the car is a DD.
DD yes... Well be in touch bullwinkle I put a number out there because I don't really know a lot about what gets you where with a sube... Thanks for info guys
I make 366awhp on my completely stock 2.0L with stock 5 speed. Its all in the driving, clutch choice and the fluid you run. I use my own blend of fluid which I really don't tell people about because its only been proven to work great in my car and don't trust to tell someone its "Gods fluid, and your trans won't break because of it" Plus its a little thinner than OEM fluids so people will have their doubts. But, I have gone 10,000 miles + on this setup without any issues. In my opinion Subaru's love e85, we have tuned ALOT of them on e85 and all of them made great power on our dyno and other dyno's to back up the numbers. My car stated above is a pretty good showing that they love the fuel and run great. If you have no choice but to stay pump gas and e85 is not an option, agreeing to above mentioned modifications is what i'm going to do. 16g or 68HTA Up-Down-Catback Drop-In Filter Grimmspeed 3-port Injectors/Pump MAP Tune If you want to switch to E85, the above mods would be the same. Injectors and pump is all that is needed for E85, plus tune.
I can sell you everything you need off of my car if you're interested. No corners cut, all the best stuff. VF34 ball bearing turbo, ported/polished, ceramic coated MRT turbo back exhaust MRT Huge Top mount intercooler GPMoto equal length headers, coated, integrated uppipe STI pink injectors Walbro high flow fuel pump Perrin fuel rails APS TGV deletes TXS Hybrid bypass valve TXS intake with K&N filter TXS turbo inlet I just need your stock stuff in return. Minus headers, bpv and uppipe. Let me know soon as my car will be torn apart soon here and it would be super easy to swap all this stuff then.
PM'd you've got dibs for 2 days then I'm listing this in the For Sale forum. I am cutting you a steal of a deal
What exactly are you looking for? If my stuff was too expensive, you aren't going to be able to afford much..
As posted on page one, that is what I'm looking for... I have someone lined up for my turbo as stated to you which is why I don't want to pay+trade stock...
Do NOT want to trade + cash... Have my stuff lined up to someone so looking to purchase outright. Thanks
I have 4 used 07 WRX injectors rated at the 565cc you are looking for. Also have a catless UP if you are looking for it. PM me if interested.
I will sell you my tb exhaust if you're interested. Can pull it this weekend, I won't need your stock in return. Can also probably sell you injectors and a PnP vf34 if you were interested. I won't need stock in return for any of it.
Yeah, I'm still doing some research about the wastegate crack... I see it as a very common thing, but would prefer not to have the crack... I wouldnt rule it out unless I can find some concrete facts that the crack can lead to issues. Thanks tho, I actually bought some other parts from him yesterday
I was searching craigslist yesterday and found a 16g someone was trying to sell for $200, which sounds too goo to be true unless it is a cheapo eBay brand or something... Might be worth emailing him for...?
Wait. So you're looking at vf39's and 16g's but not vf34's? Am I missing something here? You are aware that vf34's > vf39's, right? Mine is PnP and ceramic coated, too and doesn't have a wastegate crack.
Yes, that is what I have been looking for (16g or vf39/vf48)... I just dont think I need that big of a turbo right now(vf34)...
a 34 is not much different from a 39.... not sure on the exact differences, but a 16g is gonna be "bigger" than a 34 or a 39.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=932331&highlight=16g+vf34 It looks like this is one the most debatable topics out there....
interesting..... here is the 16g i was speaking of http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/pts/1360049255.html
