I'll start the price at $5,000. Sounds fair because if the car was running properly I'd think $7k would be about right. The price is obviously negotiable.

Lets start with the bad. The car has rough idle misfire in cylinder #1 and sometimes #2. I just drove it and it cruises great at freeway speed, but very rough in city driving. I had the car at RS Motors and they could not solve the problem. It was there for weeks and they checked everything. Coils, ecu, sparkplugs, injectors, valves, timing, etc etc. Timing is right on, valve clearance is good, the engine checks out and is in proper mechanical condition!!! So.... that's the deal. You are getting a car that is in good mechanical shape, but for some reason just won't run properly. I have no more time or money to deal with this. IT MUST GO.

The body looks fine from 20 feet, but there are plenty of scratches and dents. I bought this car about 3 years ago and the dents were there from the previous owner. The car also had a roof spoiler which the previous owner bolted on ONE SIDE ONLY and therefore it ripped off one day on the freeway. It has a hole on one side where that bolt used to be.

Now THE GOOD. There is plenty of good.

    120k miles
New RA gears at 100k miles with new clutch at 100k (car shifts perfectly)
New front and rear pads and rotors 5k miles ago
    Spark plugs 10k ago
This car was fully cleaned up by Dan (Turbo turtle from MNsubaru) a year, 10k miles, ago. He spent 2 days on the car replacing hoses, lines, boots, etc. He did the fluids and even cleaned up the foggy headlights. Basically last year every detail of this car was inspected and cleaned up.

    Modifications:
    Cobb V1 AP
    Invidia TBE to Skunk2 muffler
    AEM intake
    Mishimoto radiator
JDM hood scoop and Zero Sports GDB/GGB Cool Action hood vent
STI big wing and 06/07 tail lights
HIDs and yellow fog lamp (non HID fog lamps)
    Viper alarm system
    radar detector
6 gauges (pillar has volts and oil pressure with AEM A/F wideband)
clock area has Prosport boost, oil temp, and h20 temp
large (ebay?) intercooler with HKS style bov
    Nice stereo system:
Alpine IPOD style deck X300 REALLY NICE!
    Profile amp 1000w
2 12" audiobahn subs in box in trunk

Always 93 octane BP gas. Always fully synthetic oil. The car will come with stock rims and very good snow tires. I have BBS RK's, but I would rather sell them separately.

PICS...(note roof spoiler is gone as stated above)

Did you ever try a new IACV? Mine was idleing rough after the flood, swapped out the IACV with a brand new one from Morries and it smoothed out! Although, i'm sure that Matt probably thought of that.

I don't know cars. I let the professionals handle that. RS had the car for a while and tried all they could easily think of.

I would agree with Josh, mine was running rougher than I liked, clean that baby up,a new 50 cent gasket. Smooth as a baby's bald butt. But in your case sounds like you might need to replace it.

If you know someone with a compression gauge check that 02-03 motors notoriously had valve issues...are you getting and misfire codes etc?

Just to clear up some more questions.
I figured out what the car is doing but I couldn't pinpoint exactly why. The car loses injector pulse only at idle and very low throttle. It took me hours to find out what it was doing wrong but I couldn't come up with a fix.
At idle, the car doesn't fire cylinder number 1. Specifically does not fire the injector. I tried different crank sensor, different cam sensor, different ecu, traced the harness. Fix some soldered wires and still the same issue.
Prior to finding the problem, I did check the compression, replaced the plugs, tested injectors, tested coils. Once I found out it was the injector pulse missing, then I did all the other tests needed.

Yes this cost the owner an arm and two legs( of an insect). I ate this labor pretty much. All three weeks of it.
In sure there's a fix but I'm packed with cars here and have to move on for now.

I forgot to finish. From idle, if you open the throttle, it will get the injector pulse back.
I know there are plenty of guys here who likes problem solving. This is good candidate.

I haven't noticed rust. This car's history shows it was originally from Texas and I bought it in Chicago. But as stated there are plenty of dings. This is NOT a clean body.

I would like to thank RS for putting in a lot of time trying to figure this car out. If it doesn't sell for a reasonable price I'm going to have to consider keeping it and getting it fixed regardless of the cost because I love this car. The BBS rims will only be available if/when the car sells.

How much less would it be without the stereo, subs, gauges, and the Cobb AP?

If you end up having to keep it, I have an engine wiring harness. Since Ronnie and Matt pretty much looked at everything else, I feel like you may have good luck with new injectors and a new engine wiring harness. Maybe not...but it sounds like RS weeded out the majority of the other possibilities!

I would love to take all those toys and put them in my next car, but I can't part anything out. I agree on the wiring. We just talked about that as the next step last night and this morning.

Why not, if it helps to sell the car? I am somewhat interested, but don't want to pay extra for a bunch of stuff that i don't want.;)

Lmk if you change your mind about keeping it and are interested in the wiring. There is a set of stock injectors for sale on here too. If you're really wanting to keep the car, it may be a fairly cheap fix! A few hundred bucks and a little work and she may be up and running right again!

I could definetly keep the subs and amp. That would be very easy to remove, but the other stuff not so much. The Cobb AP is easy too, but not worth a whole lot to me. I'm really just looking to start fresh. I'm getting a wagon if possible too. If I knew that a certain amount of money would get this car running great then that is one thing, but I'm not able to go spend a bunch for a shop to fix this and that in the HOPES that it will work.

Did you try swapping the ECU? That would be something to try. It sounds electrical, and the control pulse is generated there. Doubt it is a programming issue. Swap a known good unit in and see if the problem clears up.

I'd go 3.5 with out the subs and amp and access port... I'd want the head unit. LMK Also 2.0 5MT?

Lol, it happens. I am guessing that the wiring harness is the culperit here. Ronnie tested the injectors also and didn't state that they were bad. So the harness is really the only scenario left, if the motor was in fact mechanically sound, which Ronnie stated that it was.

If someone buys this car, i have an engine wiring harness that is clean and uncut/unspliced. Could be a super cheap fix, assuming that is what it is.

Thanks for throwing a number out there, but at this point I'm looking for very near $5k, otherwise its just not worth it to me to sell.

YES 2.0 5MT has a nice momo knob and (I believe factory short shifter).

4k would be a reasonable middle ground for the car minus sub, amps, bbs wheels, and radar detector.

The seller would be left with around $1k in parts and the buyer would still be able to sell/trade for stock around $500 in parts from the stereo, AP, and intake.

fwiw, if it's the harness, that's a good amount of work.

Laserblue, do you have more info on the gears? Where were they purchased from and who did the install?

Also, when Dan had the car, did he do timing belt, water pump, and check/adjust valve lash?

The gears were done at Subaru just before I bought the car. I got that info from a Subaru tech (off Subaru's computer record system). That's all I know. The timing belt was "suposedly" done around the same time. No info on water pump or valves. According to RS, everything looks good. Dan did a ton of LITTLE maintenance things. (tightening loose items, fixing pressure leaks, new O2 sensor, some suspension components, and the brakes). He had the car on two separate occassions.
