Time to sell the Rex... Sorry, but this is going to be a long post.

I'm gonna' be honest, the car has been driven hard for a long time (since 2004). I've put over 150k on the car (second owner), and most of it has been in the city. It clunks, it bangs, it rumbles, and it shakes. This mission, if you choose to accept it, will be a project. Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but it has its share of issues... Nah, I'm not exaggerating.

    Issues:
    1) Brakes are pretty much done. There seems to be a bit of a hitch from what feels like the caliper, when releasing the brake in stop-and-go traffic. Accompanied by a complimentary shake when stopping.

    2) Somewhere around 60mph, the car vibrates. It's either the rear diff, or the fact that the bushings in the Perrin PSRS, are shot. Oh, and because those bushings are toast, there's a very musical clunking from both sides over any size bump, crack, or pebble.

    3) There seems to be an oil leak, haven't had time to hunt it down.

    4) I'm guessing there's a boost leak, possibly somewhere around the intercooler, as I swear I can hear it whistling Dixie on startup. And because of that, it may backfire if you get on it. And it tends to run lean (with a code to verify) if you push it. I haven't had the time to log it, so, your guess is probably better than mine.

    5) There's no rear sway bar. Whilst trying to install stout mounts, the rusted out mounting bolts sheared off in the chassis. So that's pretty sweet. Think of it as weight reduction.

    6) Front tie rod may be worn a tad, as well as the front axles possibly lacking an appropriate amount of lubrication.

    7) Possibly a fried rod bearing. Can't confirm that hypothesis, as I have no way to scientifically test it, but my acute aural intuition leads me to believe this to be the case. On startup, if I blip the throttle cable to 2k and let go, when the RPM drop there's a bit of chatter coming from the center of the block. It goes away after warmup.

    8) One fog light bulb is out.

    9) Out of the myriad gauges installed, only the trans temp, afr, coolant temp, and pyrometer seem to be functional. The pyrometer is not installed in the header... Or anywhere for that matter, it's basically reading the temperature of the air coming into the passenger side quarter panel.

    10) The light that illuminates the temp gauge in the cluster is burned out.

    11) The AC does not blow cold air. Most likely due to the high-side line that's been rubbed through by the APS intercooler. This is not a cheap line to replace new.

    12) The rear wiper does not work.

    13) I think there's an EVAP code.

    14) The front passenger side ABS sensor is shot, producing the ABS light in the cluster.

    15) There's plenty of hail damage. Probably a flaw of some degree on every panel. Rust is starting to form in the usual spots.

    16) There's some cellulite (think soccer ball dent, that was pulled out by an amateur) in the middle of the rear hatch because of co-workers who don't know how to push a car out of a 2-foot snow bank.

    17) It's been smoked in.

    18) The carpet is pretty beat from winter salt and whatnot.

    19) Some lady backed into my rear passenger side quarter panel (by the fuel door), whilst it was parked, so that has been fixed, resprayed, and blended. The blend area, by the rear spoiler is peeling a bit.

There may be other little things that I can't think of at the moment, but I think you get the picture. Anyway, onto the parts list:

Tarmac 2 in Charcoal Gray. Forgot to add that those will be staying with me. The stock rims will be going with the car. I'm sure that I'm still forgetting stuff... this post is a work in progress, haha.

If the "knock" goes away when warm, its likely just piston slap. You should be fine.

The "knock" seemed a bit different than ye ole piston slap (it was more of a clacking), but did go away when warm. Either way, the car is SOLD. :)
