For sale is my 2002 Yamaha YZ 85. The bike has a Black Magic motor that runs great, and it has a stupid amount of power for a 85. This motor must run on 110 octane race gas. It also has many other aftermarket parts including a Pro Circuit pipe, Renthal handlebars, and more.

    SOLD

why must it run on 110? because of the motor? whats the lowest you'll go on the price?

It has to run on 110 due to its high compression top end. You may already know this, but Brady's gas station in south Moorhead has 111 octane on pump. As far as the price goes... I am in no hurry to sell it and am not looking to go too low on it, but pm me an offer.

110 octane is like $7 a gallon, but this thing doesn't use very much gas at all. The little extra money for the 110 is well worth it for the power boost anyways. When I say its fast I'm not joking; the only thing I've ever ridden that compares to it is an '07 GSX-R 750.

What do you mean by a high compression top end?

Did you have the head cut or something?

I don't know the details of it to be completely honest. I bought it already modded. I know that the motor was built by Black Magic (a company that used to make a lot of race motors for Arctic Cat). By top end I mean the cylinder, head and piston. I'm assuming it is just an aftermarket head that gives it the high compression. Sorry I can't give all the details, but I can say that it runs great :)

Yeah, usually it's a modded head that will require the increased octane. I bet the port height was probably altered in the cylinder as well.

Holy crap! I just rode this thing for like 5 minutes and the only thing "mini" about this bike is the fact that it makes you feel like you have "mini" testicles after riding it because I was so scared lol. I haven't ridden many bikes so I was takin it pretty easy, but the powerband on this thing was pretty unreal.

What I'm saying is a GSX-R 750 is the only thing I (emphasis on I) have ridden that is comparable (I've never rode a 600). I've never raced it against a rocket, I don't have any 0-60 times or anything like that and I'm not gonna make make the statement that it would beat a rocket because I'm not sure that it would, but they both give you that "holy **** this thing is stupid fast!" feeling if you know what I mean.

oh i didnt really think 85's were capable of going of 40. i guess with the right amount of work you can make it as fast as a rocket it sounds like. sounds pretty sweet tho good luck with your sale

Haha, the 0-60 times does not mean it can do 60 mph because I honestly don't know if it can. I just said that to prove the point that I don't have any numbers or statistics to prove how fast it is. I should have clarified that it is fast speaking in terms of acceleration. I don't know its actual top speed but I am confident that its over 40. You have peaked my curiosity though, and next time I ride it I'll try to find out.
