    Hi all,
Time to sell, I'll jump right in:

    2003 Forester X
    2.5L, 5 speed Manual
    ~182,000 miles
    Green with tan interior (cloth)
    Primitive front skid plate
    Asking $2,500

It's been a great daily driver since 2007 when I purchased it as the 2nd owner.
Overall the car is in good condition for the age and I will let the pictures speak for themselves. That said, it's been a MN car since new so there a few rust spots where you would expect (rear wheel wells). Anything beyond basic maintenance has been handled by certified mechanics.

Here's a quick rundown of the recent history (AKA new/replaced parts):

    06/2014
    windshield
    front brakes

    08/2014
NEW HEAD GASKETS @ ~140,000 miles
    valve cover gaskets
    spark plug tube gaskets
    water pump
    thermostat
    timing belt tensioner
    timing belt idler pulleys
    camshaft seals
    crankshaft seal
    NGK Iridium plugs
    spark plug wires
    intake manifold gaskets
    exhaust manifold gaskets

    10/2015
passenger side subframe rail replaced (old one rusted through at a couple points)

    03/2016
    rear wheel bearings

    08/2016
    battery

Obviously the car isn't perfect, but the engine has plenty of life left in with that gasket job being done.
Like I mentioned before, there is rust towards the rear. The passenger side was treated with POR-15 last Fall, pictured below. Both rear struts are nearly shot, but I have replacements purchased which will be included in the sale. (http://www.partsgeek.com/ss/?i=1&ssq=Monroe+72383&x=10&y=14) I simply never found time to swap them in. Finally, the transmission has started showing it's age some. I generally noticed it more after cold starts or at low/crawl speeds.

Forgot to mention that the driver side headlight is new. Had a run in with a shopping cart that broke the old lens. Small dent on the leading edge of the hood is pictured above.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.

    Thanks!

You mentioned the transmission is starting to show its age, what signs/symptoms have you had?

How bad is the rust underneath? You mentioned the subframe needed replacement, are there any other areas of concern?

I'm sort of in the market for a new winter car, this might fit the bill pretty well for me.

The transmission just has some chatter pulling away from a stop occasionally. No issues once you get it moving. As far as rust goes, the subframe rail was the only thing that really concerned me. Beyond that, I would say it has a pretty decent condition underbody, given it has been a MN car since new. I can try to get under there with a flashlight and camera there are any specific areas of concern.

Kinda sounds like motor mounts. I just did them in my Forester. Helped a lot. Not terribly expensive to do. Able to do it with the engine in. I put in Group-N mounts.

Sounds more like the input shaft to the transmission. New clutch kits come with an optional repair sleeve and matching throw out bearing. Still not a major issue either way. GLWS.
